What speakers can i use in a 2005 Fabia Elegance Estate? AND other Ice Questions

Featured Replies

I have just bought a 2005 Fabia 1 16V Elegance Estate.

My Symphony radio/cd changer - the radio works but the sound isnt great at all. Also the reception isnt very good. If i want to change the speakers, any ideas which ones fit...with out too much fuss? The 6 cd changer, and it works no issues. The sound quality is better from the changer than the fm radio. unfortunately i think one of the front speakers has blown...... it appears that there are 6 speakers. 2 in front, tweeters in the rear doors, and 2 in the rear side shelves. (i've been told that there are 8 speakers.... will have to check). Does this head unit/changer support mp3's?

hopefully these are questions that are easily answered by a lot of briskoda peeps.

thanks

Pedro

the speakers are held in by rivvets so removing them isnt the easiest of jobs.

You will need to drill them out to be able to remove the oem speaker

Radio reception isn't the best IMO. Only real option is to tinker with or change the aerial. Though I've no idea if this improves matters significantly.

Front doors have 2xmidbass and 2xtweeters. Midbass behind the obvious grille in the door, tweeters behind the mirror panel trims where there are smaller grilles for thwem to fire out.

Plenty of threads arounf describing changing the front speaker setup.

Neither the Symphony nor the CDC support MP3. You'd need a Connects2 unit or similar. Some replace the CDC, others work alongside it. (Xcarlink, Ycarlink, Connects2, Connects2USB).

A better/cheaper option overall might be to replace the h/u with a bluetooth capable unit and run MP3 from a Smartphone or similar device.

Thanks for that Vindaloo.

i had ordered a replacement OEM speaker from ebay and found that it had been damaged in transit. Seller sending out another one.

i wasnt happy about the sound in the rear, so i bought a pair of 6 x 9 speaker boxes from the loudest.com on ebay and they fitted my very old (17 Years) Pioneer TS-A6950 120W 6x9's. i disconnected the rear components and the tweeters in the rear doors and the sound it so much better from the 6x9's. Just need to find a way to secure then into place (behind the rear wheel arches).

cheers

That's a difficult one. Personally, I'd consider screwing them to the backs of the rear seats, possibly with wingnuts or similar - and a quick release electrical connector for the speaker wires.

Other option would be a partial false floor to which you'd screw the speaker boxes. Though you'd then have to secure the false floor....

Have fun....
