that works out at 392 miles or 597km for a tank.

I get that with lots of town driving and short journeys so its not great, 32mpg or 51kpg.

I'm still running on petrol I put in 3 weeks ago. Done 327 miles computer still saying 125 mile left till empty

but you do have a 1.6fsi, not a pd170/cr170 which is what this thread is about really.

Totally standard vrs hatch 170 tdi CR. I get around 520 miles on 55 litres with the majority being a 6 miles of semi urban commute to work and the occasional 70 mile run down the motorway.

The OBC reckons on 48mpg but it generally reads a couple of mpg too high.

Since no-one ever seems to agree on what "a tankful" is, can members advise how much fuel they put in when refilling?  Then, even if they can't calculate it, other readers will be able to work out what their actual fuel consumption is in miles per gallon so that meaningful comparisons can be made.

I've never quite understood what "a tankfull" was.  I thought L/100 (or MPG) was the accepted standard.

Over 218 fills my average fill-up was 40L.  The maximum I've ever put in was 56L.  I've had 11 occasions where I've got more than 800km before adding fuel; another 51 where I did more than 700km. I still think it means/indicates nothing

2011 remapped vRS I was able to on long runs get 1100 km from a tank. This is running at motorway speeds not slower for economy and not over several trips, refuelling when actually empty and able to get more than the 55 litres the tank size is before first click.

.

Agree completely.  "A tankful" means nothing at all.

I've just got photographic evidence of peak of over 800 miles to a tankful from a 100 mile steady drive in a PD140 estate/combi. Unmodified.

This equates to almost 70 mpg! It peaked at over 80, but that was after being forced to drive slightly slower and going down some long hills.

My trip computer has been calibrated by myself using records from over 4,000 miles of driving and is accurate to within less than 3% error over more than 12,000 miles of monitoring and adjusting with VCDS.

This figure was a peak of optimal driving (65 mph on motorways which made up c.70% of the distance. By the time we had finished, including heavy traffic on the M25, we had covered over 140 miles and averaged just under 61 mpg.

Two adults and two children away for a weekend, so boot had stuff in it, but nothing major.

I have had 'Eco' tyres on for a year and have been finding Esso diesel gives best results. I'd also fitted a new fuel filter and topped up the filter canister with Redex treatment last night.

My real long term average is increasing slightly and sits at 49mpg overall.

Last year managed 641 miles between re-fuels in my 2010 CR vRS estate and this showed as 53.6 mpg on maxidot. Took nearly 55 litres to re-fill so I guess there wasn't much fuel left!

General messing about commutes, kids runs etc. Maxodot showing 10 mls to empty and it started to kangeroo. Filled up with the pump showing 56.8 ltrs. I had 572 on the trip and long term ave at 43.5. Brim calcs at 45.9. Ps vrs diesel estate 2011 no mods / maps etc

Only just read this - interesting to know how diesel stacks up against petrol. Filled my vrs up at the weekend and it said 350miles. Not too bad, my old 1.6 Civic had a worse range but lo and behold if it didn't revise its estimate after a 40mile blast up the motorway....

Assuming the picture posted, how the hell does it work out the new range after going for a run?! :D
