It's arriving on Friday

So you have now done the deal with the dealer and bought it?

I think we need a sweepstake on how long till she spots the car has changed.

  • Do it!   You can't take this stuff with you. On the honesty option... only you can call that. Certainly been known to have a few new things and not mention it, only to later once 'noticed' be quite

With both the dealer and the missus, yes.

Well done you. So you finally got your deal with the dealer

Indeed. What's most surprising is that they offered to deliver it (260 mile round trip) and are happy for me to inspect it prior to payment.

As it's an ex Skoda car with 4k miles on it so I'm not overly worried.

Looking on the bright side, you have not had time to put all your crap  stuff into the Yeti that you had in the last one

Indeed.

I was able to...

Remove the boot mat

Remove the bin

Remove the kite

Remove the sunglass holder

Remove the polishing cloth

Remove the Alpine EZi-DAB

Remove the usb charger

Remove the CDs

...and track down the original number plates in less than 45 minutes.

Must remember the umbrella and tax disk on Friday.

I'm confused!

10th March - no deal.

11th March  - deal done.

Complete with personal plate transfer?

Car being delivered on 13 plate, with paperwork having gone in for transfer.

I'll take the personal plate off of mine before it goes off so I can put it on the new car when the paperwork comes through.

Now the missus knows, there's no real need to worry about the personal plate not being on for a while.

Not sure what offense I'd be committing if I put the personal plate straight on.

Price over weekend was to high. The dealer got back in contact on Monday though with a lower price that I found acceptable.

So did the deal.

Here's a few -

No insurance cover.

No (correct) car tax.

Failure to display correct registration.

Might be worth the risk though, as it as would not ping up on ANPR, as exactly same make/colour/reg as current car, so nothing obvious to alert Police or roadside ANPR, unless DVLA records are completely up to date and show as "pending reg transfer/retention".

Bit of a nuisance though, having to wait between 4/6 weeks for the transfer.

However, IMO opinion not worth the risk from the insurance point of view alone.

The insurance would have the right reg, as would the tax disk. So that's 2 out of 3 dealt with :-)

Insurance/tax disc might have the correct reg, but on DVLA & MIB databases, that reg would refer to a completely different model/engine until "officially" sanctioned by DVLA, and insurance company notified -  so still illegal I'm afraid.

Nice try! :whew:

Talking of personal plates, it is a common misconception that the number is owned by the car owner. The fact is, DVLA "own" the number, but the car owner has the "right" to use it. Any abuse of the rules can result in the DVLA taking away that right (ie misplaced spacing).

I suggest you wait to put the personal plate on your new car until you have the paperwork back from the DVLA.

The boys (& girls) in blue have increased their ANPR checks and some are random picks by officers on the street.

Plus the fact that you never know when some nut will not look where they are driving or the colour of a red traffic light.

I've just got mine back from the DVLA after a 4 week wait.

Enjoy your new Yeti, and drive in comfort/piece of mind.

Hmmm. Not sure why I'm only seeing half a picture

Did you risk it with the reg number transfer or is it legit?

The personalised plate is only on for show.

My insurer has been informed of the change of car and change of plate to the "proper" plate.

And I've paid my £4

£4???

See post  #33 about difference in insurance premium from the 110 to the 170.

£4???

That's how much extra Morethan wanted for me to move from a 110 2WD to a C170 4x4

BTW, is it just me that's only seeing the top half of one of the pictures or everyone?

Can see all of photos OK.
