  • Congrats Pasty.  Just think, now you'll be able to get lots of helpful advice and meet some new friends on SCN

  • Apparently it did over 50mpg on both drives in and out of work today. Admittedly they were pretty traffic free but i had to really try to get that in the Fabia.   Have played with the menu option a

  • They say once you go black you never go back     I'd have actually been happy to buy any other colour Ibiza but it just so happened this one was black. Better grow to love washing cars otherwise

Red or blue would be my votes.

Car's looking great. B)

I think black with yellow hints would look good :)

yesterday was the day for project "do what SEAT should have done in the first place"

This manky unpainted caliper

was attacked by this red Hammerite

to make it look like this

still looks equally tiny but now has a bit of style about it :D

I did see one on the main Gloucester ring road over the weekend that had an orange wheels, grill, mirrors, and boot lid spoiler....

looked cack :D

  • Author

last tank of fuel was consumed at 50mpg

Like what you've done with the brakes. Really livens them up :)

To be honest Aaron the issue is that I don't do anything to warrant writing about! :D

The plan was/is to keep the miles off as much as possible while Mrs Pasty runs her Fabia into high mileage territory - at which point we'll swap.

While the plan is working it does make for dull reading.

The car literally comes out of the garage in the morning, commutes in traffic to work, sits in the work car park all day, commutes home in traffic, goes back in the garage.

Snore!

I'll update when things happen but the modification/track/exciting plans are few and far between.

I did the brakes.....and that's all the plans complete.

I did briefly look at buying a Cupra spoiler but new and unpainted they were silly expensive; and the only second hand one I could find was bright blue and already attached the corresponding bright blue boot lid.

I did do some research on remaps but voiding the dealer warranty is a no-no (it was free so might as well keep in intact just in case) and to be honest I'm not sure I can be bothered with the potential insurance headache of a "modified" car again - especially given the claim for the written off Fabia is still not closed 5 months down the line.

I do keep an eye on eBay for a second set of alloys but only as it'd make my life easier to put the winter tyres I've already got on a different set of alloys than to pay £20 to get them swapped over when/if it turns cold, and to be honest I've never had an issue running summers all year so may not bother at all.

I'll update when things happen but don't expect much I'm afraid.

oh I did have to put another tank of fuel in following a run down to Cornwall last weekend

Fuelly says 47.5mpg for that tank

I'd love to say the drop from 50 is due to hooning around the place but it's actually probably the traffic has been a bit worse on my commutes!

You say this now, I think most Briskodians are waiting patiently for the dealer warranty end date! :)

Are you bringing it to How fast?

Need more power Pasty :( :notme:

maybe and yes

I was planning on coming up as a spectator/passenger/ballast (and/or all seeing organising overlord) for How Fast but, as with the National meet, I may now be tied up with family commitments meaning I can't make it. We shall see.

With regards to more power yes it probably does.

If I'm totally honest the car is yet to get under my skin.

It does everything we wanted it to do fantastically well.

It sips fuel at an almost unbelievably slow rate, it's quiet, it's comfy, but it just feels a bit grown up and a bit sensible.

The CR engine is as powerful and as quick but it lacks the "punch" of the PD unit and isn't as tractable or user friendly to drive - I reckon I've stalled the Ibiza more times in 5 months that the Fabia in 5 years.

The ESP also does funny things over negative G which kill the throttle and annoys me.

Hopefully/maybe a remap will/would change all that and bring it to life.

Alternatively I do keep looking at buying a toy (but simply don't have the budget) or maybe giving the Ibiza to Mrs Pasty for her commute and me either modifying the Fabia or selling is as a standard one and buying an already hybrid'd one (something like this if it wasn't so expensive)

I'm also not sure if I want to go down the modified route again given the pain it can be on insurance

who knows.

if there was an emoticon to sum up my feelings for the car at the moment it would be :S

Would be good to see you there Cliff, I am sure there is a spare seat in any of the cars for you.

I'd love to be there and I was warming to the idea of trying to ignite the flame between me and the Beezer by flinging it around Bedford.

However my parents stayed with us for the weekend last year and I ditched them on the Saturday to come up to How fast (and it took longer than expected as the Fabia blew up) and this year my brother is doing a "mud runner" 20 minutes from my house so again we may be family central.

I'll open some negotiations ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

CR engines are a bit refined and bland over the PD, a decent remap brings them to life.

Completely changed the driving experience of my Yeti.

Would a PD engine fit? I'm sure the Pasty wagon old engine could make it's way back in eh Pasty? :wonder:

Another couple of tanks of fuel down and 52.7 and 54.2 mpgs giving an all over total of 51.2mpg over almost 6000 miles

not bad at all.

Are you enjoying it?
