What's the most BHP you can get out of a Vrs , any variant ?

How long's a piece of string, how much cash are you willing to throw at it?

there simply isnt an answer to that.

I expect you could get 600+ if you threw enough at the petrol and similar at the derv.

Have a look at the uk fwd drag cars and you will be shocked the power those things put out. You'd never think those engines are capable of it

There'll be another 550-600bhp mk2 TFSI by the end of the year I reckon (another because there's bound to be one somewhere already, right?).

Ok , obviously a bit too vague/open. Let's say your an average Joe wanting to tune your motor. What's achievable in reality ? Not throwing cash/drag racing !

Quite apart from fuel consumption or even reliability / durability, how intractible an engine are you willing to put up with?

It's no doubt a bit different with modern electronic control and mapping, but when fuel mixture, ignition timing and valve timing were controlled entirely mechanically, you could build an engine which produced amazing power at 10,000 rpm but would stall if you let the revs drop below 8,000.  (OK, I exaggerate, but you probably get my point.)

You could get more power by ignoring braking, suspension and handling, but as a daily driver that's probably not a good idea.

Just out of interest whats the highest BHP figure you have heard (and proven) on a TSI with standard k03 turbo (money/other mods no object). Reason i ask is as have heard quite a few numbers/arguments being thrown about on other forums about TSI power levels and im pretty much at the end scale of mods before going to a k04 conversion.

Im guessing im about the 265 mark but no proof.

I think the absolute max for a K03 is about 300 bhp with the right supporting mods but I believe they don't last very long.

Define throwing cash.

A stage 1 map starts at £300. You don't need any of us to tell you that the more you spend the faster you go.

You could get more power by ignoring braking, suspension and handling ...

 .

No, you couldn't.

You could indeed ignore braking, suspension and handling.

However, not only would this be a daft thing to do (not just dangerous but also pointless since you wouldn't be able to use the power) but also, ignoring these things would actually do nothing whatever to increase the power.

Well you need the aero stuff and the gears to do 228. I reckon the limit of the stock 6 speed is about 170-175mph and you can do that with 300 bhp

Allegedly

So how is this new Mercedes engine on A class A25 AMG, 2.0L 340PS?

Do you think this engine will die on 30.000 miles?

I would be scared to buy one.

Why would it? JDM WRX STi models have been pushing 305-320 BHP out of a 2 liter motor for 10 years now.

Also, there are FQ versions of the LanEVO, available with 320, 360 and 400 horses.

Agree, but somehow those engines are made for last 10 years to do that.

This Merc engine, I would have a few doubts  :bandit:

All sorts of things - same reason you get 340 reliably out of k04 powered 2.0 cars.
