  • Correct buddy your mate is talking rubbish,  you can go lower.   Unless you are already on the deck the VRS can go a lot lower than most VW Golfs as the VRS has a anti roll bar that does not get in

  • if you want to go low on 17 spiders you defo need spacers to clear the coilover platforms as tyres will rub them   I have 12mm hubcentic H&R spacers, you will need 8mm or greater   here's mine

  • Send pics buddy, i doubt it is your FARB rubbing and something else.

Fronts do need to come down a touch more now it's settled tbh.

Speed bumps are a no no but other than it's fine. Be even lower soon, I'm sure D's mk1 is the same ;)

I swapped from a mk1 vrs (which I loved) to this, mk1's more a drivers car where the mk2 cruises with ease. Much better car imo ;)

Stop it man I'm easily persuaded.

Hmmm, Decender that looks spot on! Id love mine sitting like that! Dsmith if I had mine that low round here my bumper wouldn't exist anymore haha! I think im going to have to look at changing the droplinks! Maybe get some adjustable ones or something! The whole subframe etc is being replaced by the LCR one in the next few months so hopefully when its all down I might be able to see if there's any marks underneath! Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it!

Thanks. Heres a clearer pic which shows the ride height a little better. I think from memory ive got about 2cm of thread left on the fronts but dont quote me on that. Occasionally get a slight rub on inner arch on full lock but only on bumpy or uneven ground. Will measure my drop links at some point but im sure there around 250mm so pretty sure that aint gonna be ur problem.

Where did u get ur drop links from?

That's at a really good height, just need some spacers to bring mine down the last few cms.

Thats a really nice ride height! Im jealous haha! Think it was an ebay shop i got them from. Might try some tps or ecp ones.

Hi Buddy . The more i think about your issue the more i am sure it is drop link related, either as it is a worn drop link ball joint or rubbing/touching drive shaft coz too short.

Your car is low but not that low, yet you have very tight clearance between drop link and FARB. So this is either because your combination of pro sport coilovers and merc vito drop links  are  not normal merc vito ones(i.e even shorter) or the pro sport coilovers you have maybe made with the drop link bracket higher up(more like std strut)

A std drop link is 336mm and a merv vito one is approx 250mm I think

So i would go measure the drop link and check for wear.

Also has your car been knocking since you lowered or always? This might indicate other issues.

Here's mine which is not as low as i have had it now but never had knocking.

Cheers for the reply mate, im gonna give the whole front end an overhaul when I do the lcr upgrade, so hopefully I can sort it! Until then ill stay baffled haha! I appreciate all the help and advice you've given me top man! and I owe you a beer or two if I ever bump into you at a show. Your car looks awesome in that pic above by the way!

The droplinks are 250mm I measure them the other day. Gonna order some from tps when I go in next and see if that changes anything, also gonna get the car up and check all the mounting points for frab I think
