Interior protection

Featured Replies

In my last car (2011 fabia vrs) I stupidly got the dealership paint and interior protection thing. Supaguard I think it was.

Anyway, although I subsequently found out the exterior protection was a bit of a con, the interior protection saved my bacon on a couple of occasions, with coffee wiping right off.

In my new car (fabia Monte Carlo) the seats appear to already be wearing slightly on the bolster (which I'm surprised about because the fabric feels just as durable and I've only done 7k miles). I wonder whether the interior protection on the old car made it more durable as well as resisting spills.

So... I'm keen on protecting the new car's interior as well.

Is anyone able to confirm whether these products really do improve the fabric's wear rate and also is anyone able to recommend a product that I can apply at home? I've no idea how it's applied but I assume there's no magic involved...

Thanks

I have Gtechniq i1 Fabric Guard, only need a small bottle and cheap at £6.00

I used 3M Scotchgard on my seats...Brilliant stuff

In answer to your question - yes it may well do, material dependent obviously.

I use the supagard interior spray, bought from eBay or 303 as a backup.

Gtechniq I1 for fabris seats (L1 for leather). Give the seats a good clean then once dry spray on I1, some like to agitate it a little to help it bond into the fabric rather than to just let it sit. I do two coats, first agitated in and second to sit on top. Works a treat for me.

Thanks guys.

None of these products appear to claim anything about durability but I guess it needs doing anyway! I wonder if the fabric on Monte Carlo seats just isn't as hardy.

I'll get myself some gtechniq - seems good value.
