Monte Carlo or 1.2 TSi SE

Featured Replies

Given the choice I would get the SE. Reasons, lower milage, potholes & Montes look flash and gaudy to me. This is a personel opinion but feel free to flame me.

The only reason for going for the SE would be for the lower mileage as Fabias are not good looking cars but the Monte does at least have a go a trying to look a bit better.

I'll probably be lambasted by the vRS brigade coz even vRSs are hardly any better then a stock Fabia but, hey ho.

No one buys a Skoda for its looks. :wall:  And a Monte doesn't break that rule. Buy the SE!

I didn't say that the Monte was a great looking car, I just said it looks a bit better than all the other Fabias.

Anyway, the guy posted his thread nearly 2 weeks ago so until he gets back on then we'll never know which one he picked, or if any!

Our current Monte TSI 86 replaced a similarly engined Elegance and shares the drive with a 59 plate base model HTP 70. Also driven quite a number of other variants including the vRS and for us anyway the Monte TSi has proved to to be the most balanced Fabia in terms of performance, ride, handling and comfort; find the seats very supportive.

We run it for 7 months of the year on it's standard 17" alloys and the rest of the time on 15" Skoda Line alloys with winters. The latter slightly softens the ride, which is ideal for soaking up the many potholes that appear in the rural roads round here during the winter months, while still retaining it's handling characteristics.

So my vote goes with the MC,

Aye, apart from the Gigaros, front spoiler, lower honeycomb grille, DRLs, lower stance, no bump strips, rear privacy glass, black front pillars and mirrors, deeper rear bumper, rear diffuser, rear spoiler and twin outlet exhaust I struggle to tell them apart.

I quite like the look of the new fabias.

I dont think its any worse looking than a polo
