Uprated Clutch Options?

Featured Replies

Probably covered before but I think I'm doing my own head in by reading up too much ! My Vrs requires a new clutch. Currently Shark Stage1, all was ok then put an induction kit on and full Turbo Back Blueflame Exhaust and now it's slipping, which I knew would happen. I also have my Autotech HPFP to fit, S3 intercooler and numerous suspension parts, bars , bushes etc before software upgrade. Anyway back to topic.... Loba Sachs Stage2 SMF was my first thought, or Southbend stage2 daily silent SMF. I could possibly stay DMF (new) and Just purchase an Organic clutch as Oem feel is better for me. Is there any other brands I'm missing ? What are people's experiences ? Possibly thinking about going k04 later in the year so another factor to consider ;)

I'm using a Sachs on stage 2 revo and couldn't rate it more highly.

Sachs stage 2 Smf ?

Sorry should have been clearer. The car is running a stage 2 remap and the Sachs handles all the extra power and torque with ease.

Nobafett - Is it a stock flywheel, or single mass?

Sach's seem to get the highest reviews, can anyone recommend me the cheapest place to get one? Always seems to be over £1k.

Just the stock flywheel. Had no issues at all.

Nobafett as above really, so you have a oem dual mass flywheel ? And sachs stage2 organic clutch ?

Sorry what bhp and torque are you running ?

I bought the clutch several years ago from JKM. I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure that as it had only just started slipping after going to stage 2, they said the standard flywheel would be fine. I could be totally wrong and am no mechanic so really can't remember.

Power wise, it's not been rolling roaded, but I've posted a Dyno printout before from a Scirocco with the same mods and it was 289bhp. Torque was 330lbft I think.

Try Darkside. They have a Sachs clutch and DMF for just about a grand. Expensive, but its worth it. Just imagine taking the clutch out and then having the car off the road for days whilst you wait for a flywheel.

That obviously depends on your mileage. Clutch is a bit more work to press. I now take it out of gear at the lights. Your leg either gets more used to it or it eases after a few weeks

Thank man, got car booked in elsewhere now. Going for a Loba-Sachs SMF and Organic stage 2 clutch. Just under £1200 fitted. Ouch ! Gotta be done though ! Will post as much as possible about it for future reference for fellow users. When I get time I will hopefully start my build thread !

I thought I had a sachs oe clutch and dmf, turns out it's an LUK unit as the garage found out just as they were about to try and fit the uprated sachs clutch unit... Dammit another £200+

Does anybody have any part numbers for SACHS clutch kits?

Does anybody have any part numbers for SACHS clutch kits?

PM me and I'll give them to you this evening. I've got the kit for a 12 plate petrol vrs estate.

I'm using a southbend stage 4 daily rated to 475lbft with a SMF. It rattles a bit as to be expected but it is lovely to drive.

How do you mean "lovely to drive"? Since I've got change my flywheel then going to a single mass is an option. Are there any potential risks to the engine of gearbox by doing so?

By lovely to drive I mean the engagement is as close to OEM as you're going to get, but with a firmer pedal. I had firmer engine mounts installed at the same time as the clutch so that accounts for some of the cabin vibration, but honestly I've never looked back since.

Peace of mind too, knowing a SMF won't fail like DMFs do.

Thanks, I'm pretty much decided to go that way. I'm happy to trade a bit if idle vibration for a more positive engagement and responsive throttle.

These are the parts of got for a 12 plate vrs with engine code CCZA

883082 001422 sachs cover 240mm VAG

881864 999502 sachs plate audi / vw 240mm organic.

Hope that helps.

Thank you!

Bear in mind that clutch kit will only fit with the sachs OE flywheel. If you want an SMF then it's a different clutch kit!

BWA Tfsi clutch part numbers are

Sachs 240mm cover 883082 999787

Sachs 240mm organic plate 881864 999502

Which fits to a LUK flywheel.

Think I got a bargain on the flywheel @ £164+vat.

Don't forget a new concentric slave, pointless opening the box up and not replacing it.

You did. A sachs DMF is £425 from tps

So the cover is the making part to the flywheel? Your plate is the same part number as mine, plate is different. Does this mean you can fit a sachs kit to an LUK flywheel?

What is the part number for the LUK DMF?

I'm not sure how it all mates up but I. Bought a new LUK flywheel to go with that clutch kit. I bought the flywheel from ECP and have the receipt but it's just got their own part number on it.

I bought mine in this group buy, you could trawl through it for info if you want.
