Another What's it worth - vRS SE

Featured Replies

I might as well utilise my Freedom membership and ask the question on here.

What are Fabia vRS SEs worth these days?

95,000 FSH very good condition. Usual SE refinements + rear anti-roll bar.

2 new "Uniroyal Rainsport 3" front tyres. iPod lead link to the radio. Rear spoiler recently painted after the lacquer peeled.

Timing belt changed a couple of years ago. (20,000 miles ish). Clutch slave cylinder replaced 3 months ago.

New rear discs & pads last summer.

Alloys have seen better days but not too bad and a few marks on one door mirror but apart from that as you'd expect from a car that's been looked after.

Prices do vary depending on where you look and I've been pleasantly surprised at the amount they are being advertised for.

Best bet would be to search on auto trader for car of same age and mileage. Mods imo are worthless when it comes to selling and so not add any extra on.

I agree with you on that score. Standard cars sell. Modded cars seem to be to individual tastes and tend to stick around. Plus most of the mods I see spoil a good car  ;)

All the SEs are over £5500 up to £7500 but with less miles.

They are holding value surprisingly well.

I'd suggest a private sale 07 plate VRS SE with almost 100k on the clock would be around £5,000 if you want to attract interest.

Dealers would try to add another £500-1,000 on top.

Thanks very much for that info Foxy

You 'avin' a laf?

4 absolute tops in grade 1 nick I reckon.

Would lower the value imo, but some daydreamers think otherwise it seems.

Good luck to them, and I'm sure there are plenty of nuggets out there that love already modded stuff.

Peronal choice I guess.

Wouldn't personally go anywhere near a modded car.

People are still paying over £6,000 for them with 50-70k on the clock.

That is a fact, not my opinion.

I know of two that have sold in the last few months for £5,700 and £6,700.

I don't really get it either, considering they were £12,500 new and are now approaching 7 years old.

But that's what some people are paying.

A good VRS SE is a sought after car defying the usual depreciation percentages.

No point aiming low, selling it in a day and then wishing you charged more.

You can always drop the price, you can't raise it.

Autotrader:

104k miles = £5,000

78k miles = £5,600

62k miles = £6,000

64k miles = £6,500

66k miles = £7,000

And upwards in price...

Yes, advertised price and not what's paid.

But dealers don't usually knock £1,000 of a £5,000 used car.

So I'm not "avin a laf". :)

These retail, p/x or private sale 'expected' values?

If they were PX I'd be jumping up and down with glee.

I'm trying to buy an Se and agree with boss fix, no cheap ones at all!

Most on eBay are listed just under £7,000!!

Recent crash damaged one with 71k miles sold for £3,000.

That's promising as hoping to get a bit extra for mine being "09" plated with only 40k miles and "Lots" of extra bits too.

I guess its all about finding a buyer that is willing to pay a premium but the se's do seem to be holding their value which is encouraging.

These retail, p/x or private sale 'expected' values?

The clue is in the first word of the text you quoted. :)

There are 10 on Autotrader advertised for sale.

Some private and some trade.

The values vary from £5,000 for the worst to £7,500 for the best.

So I still think you are out with your guess of £4,000 in grade one/top condition.

I very much doubt the trader selling the worst for £5,000 would drop the price 20% and that's the low end of the market, a car with over 100,000 miles on it.

trouble is dealers ask well over glasses top book retail price and private sellers tend to follow

ive been watching these for years and some are on the market for over a year

a good starting piont is always webuyanycar.com  then add a bit on

i want one actually but i wont pay over the odds its just a blue fabia

Autotrader?

Could be private sales you've quoted there for all I know.

To the OP, if i were to sell my SE i'd put it in at £5600 ono. Slightly under your mileage at 83k, fsh, cambelt not due for another 20k miles or 2yrs. Only bad point is water under spoiler lacquer and usual stone chips on the bonnet, apart from that its in fantastic condition.

Thanks Davie.

Mine had the spoiler lacguer done a couple of years ago at a main dealer and my mate had an SE, his spoiler has done the same.

If you had a look you'd find out.

I'm not going to waste my time pulling up all the info to present it to you just to prove your valuation of a top condition SE at £4,000 wrong, which it is.

If you are interested have a look and filter diesel blue fabias with the search word VRS, on Autotrader.

I'm not doing all the running around to make a point if you can't be bothered to look.

If the OPs car goes on sale for £4,000 it will sell in a very short time.

Because it's underpriced.

Sooooooooo. I'm looking at £5k+ then  :giggle:   £4.5k minimum.

I'm expecting < £3k as a trade in.

There is one on the forum for £4,750.  It's a Cat C write off and has previously been crashed with front corner damage.  But lower miles.

There was one advertised under £5,000 a week or so back.  It sold in 3 days.

You have to choose your price. :)

As I said, you can come down... but you can't go back up if you sell too cheaply!

So if you are a bit over and it doesn't sell, you can lower your price a bit or choose to wait.

If it sells in a few days as you've underpriced, it's too late...

Basic rules of selling.

With the milage I'd probably start at £4,995 and wait for a very close offer.  But that's just my gut feeling.

Don't just rely on selling here.

After a week or so put it other places too.

I sold my last VRS SE to a dealer (not part exchanged) late last year and I got a little under £5,000 for it.  65k miles.

I bought SE 440 a couple of weeks ago for just shy of £6k!

It is a good one, with mint bodywork, apart from one tiny ding and a scratch on the drivers door, which can be easily fixed!

When these SE models go up for sale they don't hang around, the book price for mine was £4,200.

This is however one of those cars where the book price means nothing....a bit like a R34 skyline....kind of! Lol

I just bought my standard se 2 weeks ago with 66k on the clock fsh with new cambelt and waterpump kit, new radiator, new battery, new front & rear discs & pads & 4 new tyres all less than 2k miles ago. Was advertised for £6k and I paid £5750 it was a private seller
