Hatch no electric luggage compartment lid? Alternatives?

Featured Replies

Any intelligent way of stopping the boot from opening to the max? I take it the there is not the same (Electric luggage compartment lid (Octavia Estate) partial mid opening point control that you get with the Combi? Would be clever to have an automatic stop to avoid touching the garage roof each time. May have to add a stop some how.

You can always use your hands, granted this will only work if you have hands.....

Stick some foam to the ceiling in your garage?

A bit of string a bit shorter then the extended has strut would stop it. Tie one end with a loop so you can unhook it and the door goes all the way.  Bit bodge-tastic, but very simple and effective no doubt.

replacement struts for less or find someone who can repair or refurbishing struts

Yes that's what I was thinking, will have to work something out when I finally get my hands (yes I have some) on the car. I have protection in the garage but it's the drive underground which is shared. Not ideal to hold all the time as you need to lug stuff in and out of the boot. Would be nice to find replacement struts that hold it in any position as required.

Crazy why they made the Electric luggage compartment lid for the Octavia Estate - when the hatch is the one that really needs it, given the length of the boot.

Not clever Skoda, simply not clever...

Problem solved :)

Generic gas struts are only about £20 a pop from someone like SGS - the "N" rating should be on them somewhere (Newtons - force) so get some a bit shorter?

or, in the handle to close the lid hole, stretch the string and tie the end of the required length of the handle in the floor :-)

sorry for my english is bad
