Car in dealers...two questions?

Featured Replies

Hi guy's and girl's

My 61 plate vRS is in the dealers today and I'm not entirely happy with the response I have had concerning two issues.

My rear washer jet wasn't working and this has been put down to the screen wash I use so not covered by warranty.

Also aircon needs a re-gas at £69.99! On a two year old car is this right?

Thanks

Neil

In my opinion they would both be covered under warranty.

What's next, they refuse an engine issue because of the petrol you use?

Bit of a joke really.

Skoda is famed for it's customer service.

Maybe you should remind them.

All a load of sh*te, as for a report on "HOW" the screen wash has caused the washer to fail. thats just daft!

and a two year old car should not need a re-gas, and even if it did - ei a service it should not cost £69.99!

stand your ground and get it all in writing. phoning skoda direct when stood in the dealer can help also.

Thanks for the responses both. Glad to see that I am not the only one thinking along these lines. I think I will google skodas phone number and also refuse to give the loan car back they so eagerly seem to want until I have a satisfactory outcome.

Rear washer pipe may have popped off, I think it's located on the left side of the boot, or possibly a blocked jet. Have read a few posts about this being a common fault.

Surprised the gas needs a top up already. Do u use it a lot?

Skodas are well known for the washer jets getting blocked if you don't use VAG screen wash, the same way as you have to use VAG spec oil in the engine you must use VAG spec washer fluid, if you want soap, water is obviously fine. With regards to the air con, when our vRS needed a gas after 24 months it was complimentry and they added a dye to the system so they could detect any leaks if the same happened again, it is classed as a consumable and wear and tear though so it is down to the dealer goodwill but deffo ask them to add the dye.

True there are reported problems with washer jet blockages but only the fan jets at the front and generally only Fabia's which had an older type of fan jet that was more prone and hence had a filter in the washer bottle inlet..  Octy II's don't usually have the problem and regardless the rear jet is a simply jet of water and not a fan jet.  Skoda may claim you need a specific washer fluid but that's a load of balony - I've NEVER used Skoda screenwash and have NEVER had a blocked jet on either my fabia or octavia in 13 years!

As for the Air Con the systems do lose over time (about 10% per year from memory but I could be wrong so unless there is a leak it shouldn't need topped up.  Have they checked the compressor is working as they are a common fault?
