You don't want one of those souped up FIATs; get a Porsche 959 instead!

My elderly neighbour has been in the process of buying a new supermini size car for months.

During that time he has sought out my opinion on just about every single make/model that fits his remit.

We have run through the various merits of Fabias, Polos, Fiestas, Corsas, Rio, etc etc etc.

.......and yesterday I am informed that he has a new..............

Mitsubishi Mirage arriving next week, just about the only one that has never cropped up.

Anyone interested in a review....?? !!

My MIL asked me to look for a car to replace the citreon c5 which has cost them a fortune to keep running for the last two years. The only spec was it had to be a auto, fully loaded with a big boot for the golf sticks.

I offer up a Honda accord, seat exeo and skoda superb.

All of these were brushed off for one reason or another without real consideration.

So I left them to it with one last piece of advice which was not to buy a diesel as the 1 mile trip to the golf club, tesco etc wont agree with the dpf.

Forward on two weeks the missus informs me that they have just bought a another citreon c5 and guess what it's a diesel too.

Some people just can't be helped.

Only one word springs to mind ashley, and that word is 'moron'.

I don't see what possible reason they could have for sticking with the Citreon, unless they have always bought Citreons.

Its a bit like my old nan, will complain about the <insert party in Government at the time this comment was made which I won't mention in order to keep politics out of it> and finish with 'but I'll still vote for them next time'  :wall: I would say its because she's 85 but I suspect this is a life long policy...

Correct this is a life long thing. They are 75 years old and have never owned anything but citreon. And they always complain about how much the repair bills are. £2500 to keep the last one on the road for 2 years.

£700 for the exhaust cat back!!!!

£350 for a sump!!

I've washed my hands of it now and will just laugh when they tell me the latest outlays.

I had a Churchified friend of SWMBO ask for advice on a fresh car, a Nissan or a Ford, type not specified. I said get your husband to give me a call. Nothing for two weeks, then the night I was dropping out the engine of a type 2 camper to replace a cracked head, outside, in the rain, at 9.30pm, the day before we went on holiday, up pops Muppetboy and then takes the hump because I basically said "buy the Nissan, any 'kin Nissan (now do one and bother someone else) I'm very busy, I am carrying 180lb of VW engine from the back of this 'kin van in the 'kin rain to my bench." I next saw him in a Nova.
