H and r rear arb

Featured Replies

Hey,

Recently went to have a h&r rear arb fitted at awesome gti in Manchester and the one that was sent through to them didn't fit, part number and everything was correct but looked to be around an inch too wide.

Any body else had trouble when fitting the bar?

Any help will be appreciated

It is just uber stiff and just needs levering in there.  Some members used ratchet straps others used breaker bars.

Seriously, have Awesome GTI never done one of these before?  Bit of a shocker really.

Don't tell me this is going up for sale too buddy?

I agree... It just needs a very big lever to get it on! Lol.. That's the point, stiff bar :)

Nope haven't bought it Cus they couldn't get it to fit so bought the itg to avoid a wasted journey , as far as I know they haven't fitted one as I had to sort the part number out for them

Probably wanted to sell you a whiteline anyway.

Quick someone who wants one of these get on the phone to awesome and make them an offer for the one they have going spare.

I can come over as a fitting consultant for a small fee plus mileage.

I brought one for a guy with a polo gti, I fitted it the other week and it is to wide by a inch. Good job I go to the gym bloody hell It was stiff. What a difference well worth the money.i had one on the mk1 fabia vrs too

Na I know the people at awesome and I've got a whiteline on my other car so want to try the h&r one, they have a few of them in now actually so contacting them won't get it any cheaper

I was just being facetious,

I have met John, Al and the other guys there and they have always looked after me too when I have been in.

It's a pig of a job solo, I like the ratchet strap fitting one of the guys did for this.

But as a two man job with a bar, I don't know if we got lucky but it popped in really quick, the mechanic I use was surprised how quick we got done.

The ones doing nothing are normally called " supervisors " :p gonna book it in again and get them to fit it :) with hopefully more luck than last time

Whats the thickness of the standard bar compared to the H+R has anyone worked out the percentage difference or have they just bolted it on because its thicker ??

I did mine on the drive jacked up, took me about half a hour to do myself.

Not sure about the vrs (I've had one but didn't do any mods). As far as I know there was no standard bar on my monte...

The percentage difference would be 19mm/0 and therefore cannot be calculated! In other words there is no rarb in stock form...

Rear torsion beam suspension obviates the requirement for an anti-roll bar in stock format as the torsion beam carries out this job to an extent. The addition of the H&R or Whiteline bar add another point of connection to link the two sides of the suspension.

I didn't know these were torsion beam at the rear, learn a new thing every day !
