Monte Carlo lost all brake fluid

Featured Replies

I own 2013 Monte Carlo 1.6d. this week as I was about to drive to work I noticed the steering felt 'stiff' looked on the floor and saw brake fluid all over my 'new drive'

Got it to Skoda dealers who said 'a bolt had come loose!' and had I been 'tampering with it' well I tried to remain calm and said 'why would I 'tamper' with it, it's a new car!

Long and short of it is it is now back with me, however my drive is a mess, I've asked them to pay for cleaning and they said they'd get back to me on Monday, do you think I have a case?

Any advice appreciated, thank you.

For a Year old car the Warranty is with Skoda.

Contact Skoda UK Customer Services and Raise a Case with them.

Enquire if they want to Employ a Contractor to clean up the mess on your drive from Faulty Workmanship or Materials of one of the vehicles they built,

Ask them about the Safety Issues as well of a Bolt Coming lose and the loss of fluid.

(they might say there was no issue, you could still steer,

tell them fine, but get my drive clean please.)

Forward Pictures of the driveway, they might pay you for materials you have to purchase,

or they could possibly have the Dealership arrange it.

I can not see how the Dealership are responsible unless they recently worked on your car.

Serviced it or something else was done.

The Dealership will have to do an Inspection & Report to confirm why the fluid was lost.

(was all they said, a bolt came loose)

That should be of concern to SKODA if one did and fluid was lost.

They should know via Dealerships if that is a One Off.

You might need to Claim from your own Household Insurance for the Driveway then they could Pursue SKODA,

Maybe say that to Skoda UK Customer Services,

I'd be more concerned which bolt came loose - and if the steering felt stiff, I'd guess it to be PAS fluid, not brake fluid?

It's a bad show if the dealer accuses you of tampering with a safety critical component (steering or brakes) - and I'd report this behaviour to SUK if it was me.  If something that critical is "just coming loose", then it sounds like the sort of failure VOSA would be all over like a rash.

Sorry, I meant power steering fluid :-(

Wow that's bad ! As gone phishing said take pics , I'm sure gone phishing was someone else not too long ago ?

It obviously didn't want to go out that day.

Tricky one though...liability is hard to pin?

I know it was only a brief run without fluid, but could this of damaged any componants too?
