Fuel filter change

Featured Replies

Hi All

I want to change the fuel filter on my 2008 1.4 tdi Roomster.

I have been told by some to just swap it out and then turn the ignition on 4 - 5 time without starting the car allowing the pump to fill the filter and then it should start straight away.

Can any one advise if this is the case and it's that easy to do

Thanks

Glenn

Just swop it over and fill the new filter with clean diesel and it will start first time. It's easy because even I can do it!

On 1.4 and 1.6 diesel engines, the fuel filter "Tee" is after the filter, i.e. the filter has only 2 hoses going to it. So pouring fuel is more difficult. I use vacuum oil extractor connected to filter outlet to draw fuel through it, and yes, once the filter has any fuel in it, the engine will start as usual.
