Top Mounts

Featured Replies

Hi guys ,

New coilovers are on route. I have been advised to change the top mounts over too.

I've read somewhere that the Seat Leon top mounts are a bit better. Can anyone confirm this?

Also anyone got a link to a good source?

Do I need front and rear top mounts?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks

Tom

  • I've been advised just to do the fronts. Bump stops come in the coilover kit.

don't know about seat leon top mounts but it advisable to change the front top mount and bearing but the rear ones are not really needed.

personally i find the standard ones fine and I just got some SKF ones from Eurocar parts, which are OEM quality

other things you may want to change are the rear bump stops if they look a bit crumbly

That's great, thanks. The kit comes with bump stops... So just top mounts needed then.

Hi Wiilydog, just looked on eurocarparts, there are SKF top mounts and an SKF top mount fitting kit did you renew both ? Is the bearing inside either of these parts ?

If you buy the top mount complete the bearing is included. The pics on ECP show the bearing only.

This is the part number on the invoice for SKF kit 669440170 I bought from ECP a year ago it came with both mounts and bearings and cost about £30 for a pair.

I think it is out of stock at the moment but if you enter the number in the website it should bring you up the part.

Anywhere else sell these??

I've had a look on flea bay purely for referencing but there doesn't seem to be a definitive yes these fit. There are a couple or rear ones that fit BWA eng code but have different parts numbers ?same for the fronts. TPS may have a better idea will ring on Monday for clarification. Will post once I find out !

Bugerit!

Would you change the rear mounts aswell or just the bumpstops?

Are these the correct type for my 2005/55 Octavia Sport 2.0 tdi 140? I've got the car booked in for next wednesday to fit my B12 kit but I spoke with the guy and he suggested changing the top mounts at the same time so I said I'd get some ordered.

I couldn't say but should think so, use their part finder on the website.

Rear mounts are not required.

Martziniuk why are you saying rears aren't required ? I was just about to ring them and order front kit, rear kit and new bump stops front and rear ?

Billywhiz040480 did you just order fronts ? We've spoken a while ago and both have the same kits to go in ! Are you not replacing rears either ?

Do I need anything else, Bump stops???

Cause it's just a block of metal with no moving parts.
