Missus is looking at a new Leon - Is a 2nd Octy silly?

Featured Replies

My and SWMBO live together, and there is a brand new vRS estate on the drive which Im very happy with :)

Now, she has been looking for a new car herself, and is very keen on the Leon FR 184 Diesel.... This was actually my car of choice before I changed last minute to the Octy - so am I bonkers to suggest she does the same and looks at a vRS hatch?

Two Octavias (both white... one hatch, one estate)... not weird, surely?

The Leon is an excellent drive and arguably offers better value for money with some of the discounts out there. You can also spec some nicer options - id take a test drive and compare personally. :)

Is up to you. We had an elegance Octavia estate and a Mk1 Fabia vRS. When the time came to replace the Fabia for something bigger as well as newer, the best option was an Octy vRS blackline estate. So now we have 2 his n hers Octavias on the drive.

Thankfully they are different colours and trim levels. Round the corner from me there's a family who have 2 silver Octy vRS estates.

Colleague has a white Leon FR Diesel and it's a very nice and capable car. He has it spec'd with nearly all the options.

I definitely wouldn't rule it out.

If you can put up with the lesser residual value and running costs an FR 1.8 TSi 180ps would be nice. Its the engine of choice missing in the UK Octavia range.

Has to be a diesel I'm afraid, but I agree its a sweet engine. :)

If she did get one, it would be the hatch..... so at least they would look different! ;)

I personally wouldn't discount the TDI 150; still bloody quick for what it is and will be a reasonable amount cheaper to buy and run than the 184.

My Mk3 2.0 TDi 150 Elegance estate is quicker than my MK2 Blackline despite what it says on paper imagine the Leon will be just the same.

I personally would not like to own two of the same car at the same time. The Leon is a good car.

Agree, it's a bit too "his'n'hers", like when you see a couple both wearing matching Rolex's (obviously no one on Briskoda would be that vulgar  :giggle: )

I've driven a demo Leon in both 150 and 184 TDI spec. Fantastic car which I would have bought if the dealer had bothered to get back to me (Snow's of Southampton).  I bought the Octy as it fitted what I need and the dealer (Paul's Motors in Guernsey) is very helpful.

The only thing I'd say is the diesel sound is more noticable in the Leon than the Octy and the clutch on the 184 was very sharp compared to the 150.

Now the Cupra is out, I'm very tempted indeed!!

Why not two vrs, we were running two fl mark 2's a diesel estate as a bit of a workhorse, and a petrol hatch, as my wife doesn't do that many miles. The estate has now been swapped for a Superb and a mark 3 vrs hatch is on order, roll on getting a build date.

The Leon is a nice motor, but as with the Mk2 the interior lets it down for me. It's just not good enough compared to what else is out there (design/style wise).

We've been a 2 Skoda family for almost 5 years, SWMBOs MkII Octy, and my MkII Superb, now replaced with a MkIII Octy. SWMBOs MkII is a keeper as only done 26k and has the 1.8TSI which is chain driven so good for long term ownership. My CR150 already racked up over 18k in 10 months, already wondering how long I'll be able to resist a MkIII Superb when they launch next year!

the Interior of the mk3 leon is far superior to the mk2, but then im a fan of plain and simple interiors.....

I've had 3 new Leon's one cupra one fr last was a cupra r I'd have one again the only reason I swapped brand is seat don't make a comparable car in size to the vrs the new Leon is v good I have taken a demo for a spin )

See my sig :giggle:
