i take it this clears the suspension ok? with a 35mm long bolt?

I used M10 x 30mm long stainless bolts, nylock nuts and washers.

I must admit It was a bit of a fiddle (plus a few choice words) pushing the bolts up through the

holes (ive got a couple of long 1/2 inch extension bars) but it can be done.

I chose M10 to minimise any potential side movement (holes are 11mm).

This way eliminates any potential clashes with the coil springs.

Do these make much difference without a farb or rarb? Seem like a cheap easy mod.

Yeah i think so bud, tighter is tighter :)

I found the most noticable improvement in handling / vehicle stability was adding a rarb. (I fitted a whiteline 4 hole ajustable as i couldnt afford the larger dia Neuspeed one at the time).

For the front, yes it improves ridgidity but, to get the max improvement from it also fit a lower strut brace, then of course polybush lower wishbone, or go over to TT aluminium wishbones with camber bushes, then add extra bracing to the sub frame ( Bowders 1 is our suspension expert boldly going etc , then add a fast response steering rack?.

Every mod helps and improves the ones in the same area, and overall vehicle characteristics.

The only constraints i guess are 1/ Size of your wallet  2/ How far do you want to go ?.

How much should I be able to get one of these strut braces for?

Yes, it clears the suspension. As Bowders1 said, M8x30 is better option.

I think I used M10x30mm now as I recall the bolts were a nice tight fit into brace so there was hardly any movement.

My TT one was about £30 on ebay, cut off the brackets and painted it :-) ive decided on m10x30 stainless bolts.

Does it make a difference or just look good in the engine bay?

Na mate it does stiffen it ( i thought so )

If you brace the front(top and bottom) will it adversely affect the handling if you DONT have a rear arb?

This is a cheap and easy mod to to, I have a TT strut, cost the bargain price of £20 delivered, also have a neuspeed rear bar and R32 front arb being fitted today, it's like day and night from standard

Where did you get the for twenty? And same for the bars? Very interested in doing this?
