Airbag icon flashes once

Featured Replies

The airbag icon flashes once on the dashboard and stays on. I presume this is the drivers airbag? Is there any way sto see whats up with it without it being read?

No.

Even if you fix the issue, you need VCDS or similar to clear the fault and the warning light.

I recall getting an airbag fault on my old car, and was informed that if you lower the seat too far,

and have anything get stuck underneath, it can cause the fault light to come on...

but as said you need to scan to clear the fault log...

Scanned it and fault code 00589 had come up. I tried to clear it but it said ERROR and light on dashboard still remains.

I read that its driver air bag but couldn't really see how to fix it on the forums. Any idea guys?

00589 - Airbag Igniter; Passenger Side (N131): Resistance too High

Whilst it could be the wiring, more often than not it is the passenger side ignitor has gone faulty.
