First and last experience with Adrian Flux

Featured Replies

So with starting to have a couple mods to my car i thought it would be time to get some more specific insurance this time around. Filled in the details on the website and awaited the call, which promptly came. I was asked basic detail and put through to the right department, where i was not so much greeted, but questioned by what i can only describe as a robotic humanoid (possibly female?) with a slightly chavy accent. The usual questions ensued, we got as far as postcode at which point i was told 'it doesnt exist' i then proceeded to say it most certainly does exist as i am moving there in a matter of weeks. I was then questioned by the gestapo why i wanted the insurance from the 12th as i am moving on the 26th to which i said 'because that is unfortunately when my cover runs out'. I was then told i could not do this and that i would have to take cover out where i was for 2 weeks and then transfer to the new address and pay admin fees and any other charges. I then asked if there was any alternative such as temporary cover to which i was told 'no' at which point i wished the fembot a pleasant day and hung up the phone feeling very disappointed. I had hoped that Adrian Flux was a company of like minded car enthusiasts, doing their best to help, but my dreams are now shattered...... never again.

So you wanted to insure your car at an address you don't live ay yet?

I don't know any that will do that, The problem is  the car wont be at that address overnight..

You could get temp cover for a week at a time or maybe a month from the short term insurance company's but it will cost.

I do this when I buy my second cars these days just in case they need work on them.

Search on Google for Day Insurance and you should find them.

I normally pay £25-30 for 1 day full comp cover.

Wasn't the fact they didn't do that, its the fact that they offered no alternative, customer service was non existent. I went with a company that gave me a good quote, i told them my situation and said they would not charge me for any other fees to change address as part of the deal, put a note on my file registered the car to my current address, and told me to simply ring them back to let them know when i'm in the new address. It was what Adrian Flux should have been.

The sign of a good company is the way that 'out of the ordinary' situations are dealt with.

Unfortunately it appears that extra training is required by some customer facing personnel!

from the sound of your initial post it seems you may have treated them with a bit of an attitude. Maybe unintentionally but none the less. Did you try and negotiate a solution such as ask them to waive the admin fee for the impending change of address.

Often when dealing with call centres on the phone I guess if we heard the recording back we may cringe at ourselves. I try and put myself in their shoes cos it must be a ****ty environment to work in.

Hi

I can only apologise to you after reading through you post, this is by far not the normal way we would deal with customers and I was going to offer to look into this for you but I can see you have already taken a policy out, when I read the first comment I was thinking that we could have offered to do the change of address and not charge our fee if you were moving in two weeks and could have offered you a quote to see if there was going to be any change of premium for when you moved.

Could you please PM me your details so I can look into this file for you and see what happened and see if we can stop this happening again in the future.

Regards

I work in retail so i have the up most understanding of the ups and downs of customer service and what constitutes good customer service, i can promise you i didnt go into it with any attitude i was just looking to be helped in a situation that required a slight element of thinking outside the box. As i said it was like night and day when i called up the next company that someone on here recommended me.

If it would help you out, just let me know the information you would like and ill do my best. I used to hear lots of good things about adrian flux which is why i was disappointed.

I've had many happy years insurance with Adrian Flux with my previous car.  Never had any problems, although I've not been in a similar situation to you obviously!

Beg to differ, but I've had plenty of experience of your operatives doing "computer says no" then pulling any rule they can think of or make up to get out of helping. My favourite one was a few weeks ago when I got told I couldn't insure a car because it wouldn't be in my name until the logbook came back and if she insured it she could get "sacked or something".

Reactive statement. The damage is done and the customer went elsewhere after having been given a definitive "no". Business lost.

Given the amount of things reported that have "gone bad" on here, maybe Briskodians should now just ask to speak to Dan when they phone up. ;)

Well - given the title of the thread..... it was the same for me at Adrian Flux. First and Last time - for sure!

I was given a number of excuses why i couldn't change policy type (car change) and that come renewal they would "sort me out".

...so in the end i paid up for the 4+months on the current policy mid-term but come renewal - they still tried to stiff me.... policy increased AGAIN!

In the end - got the car insured elsewhere... better cover, lower excess...and all for half the price quoted by Flux.

Tbh i've never had a problem with Adrian Flux and have been insured last 2yrs with them. When renewal came in last year, it was higher than previous year but girl i spoke to done her best to bring it down to a satisfactory price.

Granted, i've never had to claim or make changes to my policy but i really can't fault them imho.

Seems that Flux are taking a bit of a battering lately, and I have to admit that running the guantlet of the unfeasibly high renewal quote every year and spending good money to hold on the phone while they sort out a proper quote, was starting to hack me off  :wall:

However, this year, the renewal quote came in lower than last year so I didn't even bother to look around. Job done  :sun:

The whole car insurance system needs to change. Companies can get away with treating people like dirt because they know you have to have it, even the place i got insured with their initial quote was 750 and after telling them it was way too high it suddenly started dropping and i got it for 395. God knows if i could of had it cheaper then that even!? Its a joke. Seems like they will do everything to punish you for mods and where you live and park your car but hardly offer you anything going the other way.
