100bhp more? Are they? I thought they were around the 220-230bhp mark?

Rumour has it that its going to be a turbo with circa 300bhp

Also honda want it to be the fastest production hot hatch to lap the nurburgring

Mapped fabia's everywhere be aware

Did the vtec not kick in yo?

  • How many of the Fabia boys have actually owned BOTH. A Fabia and a CTR or just had a 2 minute play in a CTR, not driven it properly then gone back to cloud 9 thinking the Fabia is a godly car with no

  • It's all down to how you drive them.  The easy power of a diesel or remapped turbo petrol feels faster lower down, but when you live with one then you get used to it and drive accordingly.  I agree

The fabia's will still win. Cant believe you didnt know

Thought there wasnt going to be a fabia vrs next time round?

Exactly, which is why i wondered what that post was all about.

To be honest if the fabia couldn't beat the old type r is not going to beat the new one so compare old vs old if it suits the funny discussion any better

A standard 1390 cc 1.4 TSI 180ps Twincharger does its party trick which is not 0-62,

but 0-100 mph or 30-100 mph and does beat the current 198 bhp Honda Civic Type R,

(probably being lighter, & the 7 speed DSG & 250 Nm Torque @ 2,000-45000 rpm)

and the VAG 220 PS TSI/TFSI models do not match the tidler either 0-100 mph.

Obviously only on private roads.

Until the 1.4tsi is in the garage for a while getting its 10th new engine.

Then i can beat it on me pushbike

Skoda are now replacing engines in the 1.4 TSI Twinchargers that are out of the Original Warranty.

Which is nice.

We only know of one 2011 model that had an engine rebuild then a replacement engine, and now a second replacement.

(Doh,

forgot about the one in a Dealer near me, also on its 3 engine, the Dealer forgets to tell prospective buyers that.)

& the Owner has rejected it, and Skoda are arranging another Ex Demo car.

So yes there are lots of lemons,

& now Skoda are having to accept that.

Just not publicly admit it, but they will as Extended Warranty Underwriters  say they are not paying for engine replacement because Skoda/VW/SEAT/Audi know they are faulty.

Good news for those that have bought new and used.

& even better for those that likes to take the Pith out of those that bought new or used.

Some are very good obviously. but then we never know for how long.

The missus has an 06 1.4tsi 170bhp and its engine seems to use zero oil.

So its a wonder how they then went downhill

Because they went to 180 PS in 2009, Different Map, and sometimes poor Quality Control.

Then revised in 2012, new internal components & new MAP,

and still some are failing.

The hondas drink loads of oil too. Thats one of the only annoying things about them

This debate always makes me :giggle:

I've never driven a Type-R, so I can't give an opinion on the difference between the drive. But, surely you can't, or should't be comparing the two as they are clearly aimed at different people, driving styles, but more IMPORTANTLY, one is modded and the other is not :wonder: The only fair and true comparison is either standard vs standard, or modded vs modded.

For me, a truer comparison is between a vRS vs my missus' Honda Civic 1.6 Vtec, which on paper both in standard form is a close match (ok not the torque :p ) On the road in a straight line I have been left scratching my head why I am not destroying her? Put me in the twisties against her (again in standard form) and it's a little more obvious as the standard boaty ride of the 1.6 Vtec is worse than a standard vRS :D Pollybush my car up, put it on coilovers and she's now toast in the bends :D

"oh but you're comparing a warm hatch against a normal car!"

Ah but it's ok to compare a warm hatch to a hot hatch?

Now fast forward to this morning... drove my missus over to pick her Civic up and followed me back across Bristol to our house. My Hybrid vs her Vtec  Probably as laughable as a mapped vRS against a worked on Type-R no?!?

Is that the 'sport' civic your referring to? The 1.6 vtec is a single cam isnt it? Not the b16?

Dont they redline at about 7k?

It depends how you look at it. I think a vtec only really shines when your thrashing it, especially on the type r.

My mates dropping a b16 into his Ek civic. Thatll be about 180bhp with high lift cams in, i think he said.

I'll let you know what thats like when its done. Although i think he coil overs need setting up. My se fabia has no problem at all keeping up in the corners in the wet, as his back end seems to slide around. I dont rate his car much haha.

They do burn oil like theres no tomorrow though. His current 1.5 single cam drinks so much oil it doesnt ever really need an oil change.

But then, his 1.5 only puts out a tiny little bit more torque than my 1.2htp does. And he has to rev to about 6k to get that too.

Hes actually commented on how well my fabia pulls at low revs.

And a 70hp HTP isnt exactly a performance engine...

I really dont rate vtec. Haha.

No, she has the 1.6 SE Vtec, puts out 110bhp (so only 20 or so less than my ASZ in standard form) but only 120 odd lb torque.

No idea about the engine type :p

My neighbour got left for dead by a mk1 fabia in his 335d 300hp the other week.

Obviously that wasnt standard. Made me wonder what kinda power people are getting out of the 1.9pd engines though

300bhp plus

Thats impressive.

They still pretty reliable at that?

I had a b18c6 import teg engine with s80 lsd in my old ek9

Spoon ecu with 9500rpm

Vtec kicked in at 4500 and went to 9500

5k of vtec yo! Was quite impressive until i put it on its roof :)

Hes got an LSD too!

I love the integra's. Its the one vtec i would have. Best handling front drive car ever? So iv heard anyway

Yup apparently.

My wee ek9 wasn't too shabby either

It had ohlins coils on it, fancy camber arms and every brace you could think of. Even had a b pillar brace that ran behind the back seats along the floor.

I still managed to stack it lol

Hahaa. Oh dear. Coulda done without doing that! Lol

Bloody hell these fabias don't half move! Beating 335d is no easy task

Bloody hell these fabias don't half move! Beating 335d is no easy task

You wonder why these people

Bother wasting their money on the 335d when they could have got a mk1 fabia instead.
