New Fabia or 2nd hand Ibiza Cupra TDI

Featured Replies

in my first 1000 miles ive averaged 50mpg :D

Thats what i am looking for mate. Its killing me driving the CTR the way i am at present, but i am afraid when you dont have the mullah to fill the tank thats the way it has to be.

Paul

indeed. cars eh ? :)

Hmm 50 mpg, only get that when I'm stuck in traffic really, or when not on motorways :)

in the 40s is quite achievable if you don't go too far over what is legal though :D

I had the chance recently to compare a Seat & revoed VRS back to back on a track.

Engines were almost identical in feel & power.

The vRS handles OK but when pushed very hard understeers onto the side walls of the tyres. It is fast & safe but scrubs off speed.

The Seat was much better sorted at the front but slightly twitchier at the back.

The braking was a better on the Seat. vRS had adequate power but less feel.

In hard road use the vRS would be fine. You would need to get on a track to push hard enough to feel the difference.

Depends on what you like looks wise.

Don't know what depreciation is like on the Seat.Presume about the same as the Fabia.

Thats a big difference in insurance though.9 v 15

Cannot compare one to a cupra but I can to a normal TDI sport. Fabia much better choice. Why? Build quality and dealer service.

If your not bothered about the above then I'd say go for a cupra. As already said. The Cupra has a bigger turbo, FMIC, 312mm brakes with 4 pot AP calipers. Only thing you'd need to do is remap and I'd guess suspension.

Fabia. Cupra turbo, Forge FMIC, remap, suspension (eibach with Koni's or coilovers)

I love these threads, where people ask " Which one should i buy Skoda or Seat",

as you will always get an unbiased opinion of " SKODA" :)

Actually I would say the advice here has been relatively unbiased :)

And very cost effective, P.s. I meant

Get the fabia for 10.5k brand new and save a packet.

cheers

Lee

But lee if your planning on modding then the Cupra is a better bet.

Hi, If you plan on modding it the ibiza can be flashed to 205 bhp.

The Ibiza's engines has stronger engine internals + front mounted intercooler

Otherwise, the fabia.

Well the deciding factor has come down tot he timing and I'm not going to comit to either car until our house sale goes through and a purchase is under way - if that Ibiza was available at that time then I would buy it over the Fabia without question, but I know the car will be traded in on Saturday and I could not ask a seller to hold for months. The reason the guy is selling is because he's buying a house so seeing that I'm hoping to do the same later this year it is clear that I shouldn't buy a car now and end up the same position. So it looks like I will become a full member of briskoda.net rather than seatcupra.net in the future (I've lost count of the number of car forums I'm a memeber of!!). I prefer the look of the Skoda anyway. Right I'm off to pistonheads...

nice one :)
