Road Car track day, so nothing crazy there.

Sessioned too so 20 minutes then a break of an hour.

Seven sessions over the day.

£189 per car.

I'll be there. :)

Most likely in the Yeti.

Which one? Diesel or petrol (or 1.2) :giggle:

That's like someone else saying "most likely in something with 4 wheels"

Then again, you could have said "in a Fabia"

Thanks. :)

1.8 petrol actually...

For info, sessioned means they try to break you up into 4 groups of similar speed.

So it's a bit safer for anyone who wants to give it a try and doesn't want high speed machines wizzing up your trumpet.

I have tax in May and need to do my cam belt in June,Mao will have to give this one a miss sorry Richard

Richard should the topic title by 13th May? I got all confused :(

Well spotted. :D

Does that mean you are coming?

The leave request has gone in, I'd like to make a track day soon, I'm having to miss Combe due to the other half and her family. So providing it's approved then yes, that's the plan. I should find out tomorrow, just hoping I'm not too late to book on.

are there track days you can go to if you've never been to a track day? I dont even know what Id need to do one. But i really dont want to wreck my car..

Yes, most tracks run novice days when you will be out there with people who have only done a maximum of three days before.

Or on a sessioned day like the one this thread is about, you can ask to be put in the slowest group.

I'd be happy to passenger and give you some pointers if you were at a day I was doing.

A couple of tuition sessions are handy too, well worth £25 for the 20 minutes or so you get an instructor for the track with you.  Helps to build confidence.

It can seem a bit daunting, but once out there it's good fun. :)

I was the same, but after a couple of sessions at castle Combe and a day at brands I realised I had nothing to worry about.

It really is good fun.

Cheers,

I'm sure it will be fun, I really want to do it but I don't know any track etiquette, I don't know who has right of way in certain situations so would probably go for the tuition! I didn't know they offered such a service.

I'll have to find a few tracks near to me.

A lot of it is covered in the briefing before you are allowed out.

Overtaking is always on one side only.  Left or right depending on the track/pit layout.

It's actually quite simple and you must do the briefing before you are let on the track.

Richard, do you have any advice on helmets? I wouldn't know a decent priced one and an over priced one, does it need to be full face?. I'm assuming you need one of course.

They hire them for £10 for the whole day. :)

Open faced is better IMO in an enclosed car.

Mine was £40 or so and is open faced :)

Mine was £150 on eBay, unused and in it's original box from the GT-R launch.

Usually a lot more new as it's strong and light.

I'd only buy second had if you are sure it hasn't had a knock/been used though.

My helmet was £80 or so, I got a closed face one so I can then use it for karting and other such events.

Really no problem getting into your first trackday. I did my first one last year, now I'm hooked.

Take your time, enjoy it, don't worry about the others.

No decision on my leave yet... Guess I'll be too late? Not sure when you can book up to? I guess it's until all spaces are filled.

Yes, if it's not filled you can boook in the day before.

Ah right okay. What I might do is just book it and we'll see what happens... Worst case scenario I could chuck a ticket to someone on here if they wanted it.

I'll get on the phone next week.

Uptake on public track days is a bit slow on here though, so I wouldn't be 100% certain you can sell it on...

It's not megabucks I'd just pass it on if worst case scenario. I shall on this occasion live by a popular internet term 'YOLO' and just book it and see what happens. :)

If we are not on the same sessions, maybe a bit of passengering? :)

Well I've never done a track day before so if you trust me not to roll my car then certainly :)

I'll try and come up and see how things are going in the day, but I may do the evening session.
