2000 Felicia 1.3 Radiator Fan Switch

Featured Replies

Just replaced the thermostat and housing and pleased to see that normal running temperature is a steady 90 degrees (assuming the middle mark on the gauge is 90). Changed the fan switch as well and its exactly the same as the old one - nothing until 110 and then it cycles on and off every minute or so.

I've had a good search on here and through various online catalogues but can't find a direct replacement rad switch that will kick in at a lower temp. - around 100 would be fine for peace of mind.

Any ideas or suggestions - ones I've used are 6UO 959 481 D if it helps.

the switch you're using is the recommended one.

it is 6U0959481D with a 0 (zero) not with a capital O.

the switch is rated to close at 95C and to open at 90C.

Hi.

Thank you for your reply - I'm pleased its the correct one.

Can you (or anyone else) explain why the fan doesn't kick in until an indicated 110C if the switch is rated to close at 95C and to open at 90C?

Inaccurate temp guage?

Inaccurate temp guage?

I wondered about that, but on this forum and others it seems that a running temp of 90C and the fan kicking in at 110C is normal for 1.3 MPI's...unless they all have inaccurate gauges???

Inaccurate temp guage?

no, Steve, it's not the 'guage'.

it's either the temp. sensor or a pocket of hot air/steam trapped under it.

temp. sensors are not exactly made for the space shuttle...
