2nd Year Service

Featured Replies

Well, hi everyone, a little while since I posted on this forum but here is my report after my SM has had it's second year service. Living in Guernsey in the Channel Islands I was a little concerned when I bought my SM (2.0 Ltr Tdi 140 Elegance) that with the short journey's I would be doing I would have problems with the DPF filter. Well I have now covered 12,000 miles and touch wood, not a single problem. The car has performed faultlessly:-) (unlike the driver of it, more on that in a moment). I only do 75-80 miles per week and only approx 5,000 miles a year. Late last year we did manage to get away to France for a week or so and gave her a good run which I am sure has helped. Whilst there I unfortunately managed to bend my drivers side mirror the wrong way against a pillar while parked in an underground car park of a hotel we were staying at. Apart from a rather nasty crunching and grinding noise when I bent it, there was very little physical damage to the mirror so the replacement cost was approx £165.00 plus labour:-(

Over two years down the line and I am still absolutely delighted with my car, one of the best one's I have ever owned. Unless there are any major upsets, speak to you all in another year's time, cheers for now, Jez

Why did you buy a diesel for 5000 miles a year motoring???

You paid more for the car, possibly more per litre for fuel AND have potential DPF not regenerating. I've been to Guernsey and can't remember a road you could go fast enough for long enough to regenerate it.

My 1.2 petrol goes fine having covered 11,000 miles from new since last July, I was not anticipating this high a mileage since retirement.

What can you get in yours?

What mpg do you get from yours?

Maybe ja1758 needed a 4x4 version?

My previous car was a Honda CR-V 2.0 Litre petrol and I used to get approx 220 miles to a tank, my yeti 2.0 Litre Diesel gives me 350 miles to a tank. Regeneration problems were a bit of a concern to me when I first bought the car but so far they have not caused any problems and my fan does run occasionally once I am stopped and does it stuff. I like the Diesel engine and am very happy with my consumption and would most definitely buy another Diesel without hesitation.

Awfabia, after you drive a 2000 cc Yeti and feel the huge amount of spare power under the bonnet, you will understand.

Not to mention a higher towing capacity and four wheel drive. :)

oriki, that's one of the many advantages I find with BRISKODA - talking to someone living in Galilee. I visited in 2000 and really enjoyed it. Good to meet you.

Nice to see that you can get small pallets in the back of the Yeti, but so few. One of the things I'm going to miss when the Touran gets replaced with the Yeti is the boot. I usually take the seats out and get 12 or 13 pallets in a time for the winter. Never mind, it will hopefully be a small price to pay.
