BBC Radio 4 long wave on Columbus?

Featured Replies

I was able to get my Volvo dealer to download software onto the radio of my previous V70 to allow it to tune into Radio 4 on long wave. This is useful when driving in Europe. I have recently bought a Superb Estate Elegance with the Columbus media arrangement and I wonder if anyone has managed to get their Columbus to tune into BBC Radio 4 on long wave?

No and even if DAB becomes available, it won't help you in Europe.

May not help but I download hours of R4 podcasts onto SD card for long continental journeys. The BBC website is a goldmine.

Columbus does not have a LW tuner, only FM and MW.

May i make a daft suggestion?

My car is not a Skoda but I only have AM and FM settings on the radio.

It took me 6(!) Years to discover that the AM function could be tuned down to LW frequencies not just the MW spectrum.

R4 TMS was restored to its rightful preset.

Is this possible with skodas?

i'd also be a very very happy bunny (as would the wife) if LW and therefore test match special was avalible, esp for the summer trip to france.

doubt its possible, would would be nice if there was a way to hack around it

Radio 4 is available on MW (AM) in some areas as follows

Aberdeen - 1449 MW

Belfast - 720 MW

Carlisle - 1485 MW

Cornwall - 756 MW

Enniskillen - 774 MW

London - 720 MW

Londonderry - 720 MW

Newcastle - 603 MW

Plymouth - 774 MW

I don't think that will help "soor lee conteenont" though.
