noticed on configurator  VRS 5 yr warranty is now cheaper than the 4yr at £170, coincidence ?

Not many new ones left to sell,so as a bit of a ass covering exercise by Skoda , customer to cover cost via paying for additional insurance.

  • That would be nice! It's my vRS's 3rd birthday in September. Still can't decide whether to get an extended warranty, change it, or take the risk.

  • Just remember any warranty you buy does not give you the cover or peace of mind as the original 3 year warranty. There are exclusions and the warranty company will try to wriggle out of paying if you

I spotted this thread linked below when looking at Warranties on the VW Group Engines.

How did you get on with your research into the 1.4 TSI Engine.?

Did you ever find out anything more about the failure rates of engines than you were getting from Forums.

& what car did you buy in the end.

This site is good for showing the Engine Codes of the different 1.4 TSI / TFSI used in the different Cars

from, VW, Skoda, Seat & Audi.

Would that be the same Apple that recently became the most profitable company in history?

Aside from that, it well may be the case that it costs more to attempt to repair than your disposable mobile than to replace it.

Fitting 2 replacement Engines & a Gearbox on a car that was originally sold for £15.500.

Then it still being sold at a Franchised Dealership, Independent Traders & Private Sellers & going wrong again with a new owner might be costing the Biggest Vehicle Manufacturer in the world quite a lot of money.

And doing their reputation no good, seeing as the Replacement Engines were built on their Engine Building Line

or Refurbishing Plant.

Maybe the Volkswagen Group should have taken more of the Lemons they built back into their ownership and scrapped them

rather than leaving them to be bought by unsuspecting owners.

PS

Refurbished Phones are clearing Sold as such.

Skoda , VW, Seat & Audi Franchised Dealerships are not Flagging up,

'Engine Replaced, possibly more than once.'   New Engine or Refurbished.

Skoda, VW, Seat & Audi Dealerships Replacing Engines, Gearboxes do not even always write up in the

Service Book where a car still gets one that the car has had a Engine / Transmission Replacement,

It is possibly to buy a car Rejected by a Previous Owner because it was not 'Fit For Purpose',  but is back up for sale unrepaired. That is from a Franchised Dealership & a 'Approved Used Car'.

<snip>.

If you take an £800 disposable mobile back to an Apple store, it either works or doesn't. If it has some intermittent fault that you can't demonstrate, it is unlikely to be replaced. If you have changed the software or internals of the mobile it certainly will not be replaced. At what point do you believe Skoda should give up on a faulty £15,500 vRS? You might like to Google "sunk costs" before answering ;)

Stop the presses! Some franchise car dealerships employ incompetent staff and some salesmen are dishonest.

ps - like so many of the fallacies that you pour forth, VAG is not the world's largest motor manufacturer, Toyota is.

pps - However, I do agree that VAG and all motor manufacturers should offer warranties as long as manufacturers from Korea and Japan - five or seven years. Perhaps consumers could lead the way on this front?

Volkswagen or Toyota as the Biggest makes little difference when we are talking the numbers they are building and selling / leasing,

we just get their statements, figures & spin,

the Corporate Behaviour of those Parent Companies does matter to buyers and owners of their products.

(google sarcasm,

because that is what i it is each time i say 'Worlds Biggest Vehicle Manufacturer', just no little winky things available.

They are trying to get their, but the attept to grow big and fast has meant Quality has suffered, and they are

'Not Feeling the Love World Wide'.)

So what conclusion did you come to on your next car, was it a European Built one you bought.

Do you have an ongoing interest in the Volkswagen Group Vehicles as a Owner or potential owner,

or is it just this forum you like?

PS

Some of the Vehicles put back into the Used Car Trade in the UK has nothing to do with

Dealership Employees Honesty or Competence.

the Volkswagen Group Management & the UK Customer Services Employees are well aware of Rejected Vehicles returned because of the Fundamental Faults from Design, Manufacturing, Parts Supply & Quality Control,

& what then happens with these vehicles,  Faults Rectified, Parts Replaced, or no Action taken and the vehicles

back in Trade for resale.
