VRS power

Featured Replies

Hi, been toying with the idea of changing my VRS for something smaller sized, along the lines of clio sport etc. What id like to know is the VRS as quick or quicker than the clio sport, civic type r etc? My VRS is running 229bhp?

Thanks in advance

I think youve started something here.

My Octy is fairly standard and in a straight line I kept pace with a Clio 182.

In the bends? I would have been left behind.

i think i shudve kept my can of worms for this today ;)

Never driven a type r but a bloke I work with has got one he had a drive of my vrs and he said it seems quicker but then it is remapped and not a fan of the Clio and it's not as quick :-)

i dont really do any twisty roads so not overly concered the clios, type r's, are quicker through the bends. i just dont wanna go and get a clio sport and then be disappointed.

the vrs does feel very quick from 30, just never really tried it against other cars etc.

The Honda Civic Type R has a 2 litre V tec engine and like most of todays "rice burners" have a quite high rev limit, plus its got a 6 speed box, no turbo so no possible turbo lag.

If you do a search on Piston Heads.com, the top speed on a 05' plate is the same as a  std Octy vRS @ 146mph but the 0-62 mph is about 1/2 second faster, (easily lost with a fluffed gear change).

NB: I wont be rushing out to change mine any time soon.

Civic is about a second quicker to 60 if not more.

Depends whether you like the turbo shove or whether you enjoy revving the tits off VTEC engines and the like.  I prefer the former :)

Civic type r.......... bhp braggin rights but I've more torque in my floppy ****!

Don't bother, they are like ars eholes anyway... everyone's got one

I used to have a civic type r ep3 before my golf r32.. And I can say the type rs are rubbish! You have to really floor the VTEC into redline to get anywhere! Not the best driving style to be fair. Definitely a younger generations car. Both mk5 golf r32 and Fabia 2 vRS are better cars. However on the bright side I'm pretty sure you can pick up an ep3 bargain now for £4/£5k with low mileage

Stage one vrs you gotta be looking at around 225bhp but ****e loads more  torque than the type r

Mine munches Type R's for breakfast...

My stage 1 vrs was beating civic type r's on the drag strip :-)

Standard the type r is faster in every way.
