Octavia mk 1 strut braces

Featured Replies

hello!

i am curious as to where i could get a decent strut top brace for a good price, one that doesnt involve any drilling into the strut tops. do any of you chaps have some good examples?

also steering rack braces for underneath the car if you guys know what i mean?

id like to improve my handling :)

cheers chaps

dave

Anti Roll Bar(s) is/are probably a better option for improving handling from what I've read and experienced. :)

I believe all strut braces will need to be drilled. It's really not a big job I drilled 6 10mm holes in mine then used m10 stainless steel bolts.

Do you feel that they make a sizeable difference?

i believe everyone on here has had to drill holes to fit which ever strut brace they have fitted. I purchased s3 type for £25-30ish all in. I'm going to use nutshells/captive nuts to fit mine as then I can take it off later to re-spray it when I decide a colour!

underneath people uprate the anti roll bar and some have fitted lower strut brace. Do a search for bowders1 on here, he has every brace going fitted to his car  :rock:

Yes and Yes

nearly twice price of O.E.M

Agree,  not such a great price if buying oem second hand, but if buying new not so, there are 3 braces there

the oem front upper strut brace is over £60 alone.if not more

the lower brace is approx £30 at last count if not more too

and the rear boot strut brace is not a oem piece so must be purchased somewhere else and they range from £40 to £50 normally

yes buddy it will, some folks cut off the extra brackets as not needed.

My bad, didn't read ad properly, thought it was just a generic pics of braces, 3 for £99 not bad price depending on quality.

In case its not clear you don't have to cut the brackets off. I'm fitting mine with them on and then when I can afford/time to get it painted i'll cut them off so it looks better. I have that exact brace in my garage waiting to go to work :strong:

True, but i would just wait to get it sprayed and then fit it else you will have to get under the arches to remove nut's bolts .

Or use rivnuts so you can just undo em from the top...thats what I'm planning with mine.
