MOSCOW, April 2 (RIA Novosti) - Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has criticized NATO's eastward expansion and the failure by Western powers to keep their promise not to deploy military bases near Russia's borders.

Gorbachev said in an interview with Germany's Bild newspaper published on Thursday that Western Germany, the United States and other powers had pledged after Germany's reunification in 1990 that "NATO would not move a centimeter to the east."

Gorbachev said the Americans had failed to fulfill the promise and the Germans had also turned a blind eye.

"They probably rubbed their hands rejoicing at having played a trick on the Russians," the former Soviet leader told the paper, adding that this had led to Russia's disillusionment with post-Cold War relations with the West.

NATO has enlarged since 1999, admitting three ex-Soviet Baltic republics and four Communist-bloc states in Eastern Europe. The membership was more recently increased on Wednesday, when Albania and Croatia formally joined the alliance.

The expansion has strained relations between the West and Russia, which is concerned by the new military bases emerging along its borders.

Fao of theezenutz (or should it be theeballbag)

As quoted by yourself, "Well, who were the last white people you can remember that we bombed? In fact, can you remember any white people we ever bombed? The Germans! "

We bombed the Serbs during the Kosovo war, but then again you probably come up with some justification why the Serbs were right in carrying out the ethnic cleansing and why NATO should have not got involved

Unfortunately I know very little about the kosovo war so I won't comment.

If you are not going to show me the same level of respect that you would expect back, just for the fact that I happen to have a different outlook of the world and a different opinion to you. Then, there's no point trying to address me.

"I would be wary of your intelligence".

I don't blame you for making such a statement however the ignorance behind it is staggering. The assumption you are making about other individual's knowledge on the subject is amateur at best; and as for the rest if your post, I can't even bring myself to comment on as I know it would not even begin to make a difference.

You know very little about anything.

It's not just me who fed up with your idiotic ramblings. Every thread your are involved in gets locked. No one on here has any respect for you and your conspiracy theories.

Unfortunately you appear to know very little about anything, other than how to source paranoid conspiracy sites on the internet and to subsequently copy and paste random rubbish from them.

I would strongly advise that instead of simply seeking out those internet sites that serve to simply reinforce your own particular skewed beliefs, you widen your research to attempt to obtain a wider knowledge and appreciation of the topics about which you continually post.

At present you are merely making yourself appear an immature, ignorant fool who serves only to annoy people.

Let me tell you what I liked about that Gulf War: it was the first war that appeared on every television channel, including cable. And even though the TV show consisted largely of Pentagon war criminals displaying maps and charts, it got very good ratings. And that makes sense, because we like war. We're a warlike people. We can't stand not to be ******* with someone. We couldn't wait for the Cold War to end so we could climb into the big Arab sandbox and play with our nice new toys. We enjoy war. And one reason we enjoy it is that we're good at it. You know why we're good at it? Because we get a lot of practice.

This country is only 200 years old, and already we've had ten major wars. We average a major war every twenty years, So we're good at it. And it's just as well we are, because we're not very good at anything else. Can't build a decent car anymore. Can't make a TV set, a cell phone, or a VCR. Got no steel industry left. No textiles. Can't educate our young people. Can't get health care to our old people. But we can bomb the **** outta your country, all right. We can bomb the **** outta your country. Especially if your country is full of brown people. Oh, we like that, don't we? That's our hobby now. But it's also our new job in the world: bombing brown people. Iraq, Panama, Grenada, Libya. You got some brown people in your country? Tell 'em to watch the **** out, or we'll goddamn bomb them!

Well, who were the last white people you can remember that we bombed? In fact, can you remember any white people we ever bombed? The Germans! That's it. Those are the only ones. And that was only because they were tryin' to cut in on our action. They wanted to dominate the world. But the Germans are ancient history. These days, we only bomb brown people. And not because they're cutting in our action; we do it because they're brown. Even those Serbs we bombed in Yugoslavia aren't really white, are they? Naaah! They're sort of down near the swarthy end of the white spectrum. Just brown enough to bomb. I'm still waiting for the day we bomb the English. People who really deserve it.

Now you folks might have noticed, I don't feel about that Gulf War the way we were instructed to feel about it by the United States government. My mind doesn't work that way. You see, I've got this real moron thing I do, it's called 'Thinking' And I guess I'm not a very good American, because I like to form my own opinions; I don't just roll over when I'm told. Most Americans roll over on command. Not me, There are certain rules I observe. My first rule: Never believe anyone in authority says. None of them. Government, Police, clergy, the corporate criminals. None of them. And neither do I believe anything I'm told by the media, who, in the case of the Gulf War, functioned as little more than unpaid employees of the Defense Department, and who, most of the time, operate as unofficial public relations agency for the government and industry. I don't believe in any of them.

And I have to tell you, folks, I don't really believe very much in my country either. I don't get all choked up about yellow ribbons and American flags. I see them as symbols, and I leave them to the symbol-minded. I also look at war itself a little differently from most. I see it largely as an exercise in ****-waving. That's really all it is: a lot of men standing around in a field waving their dicks at one another. Men, insecure about the size of their penises, choose to kill one another. That's also what all that moron athlete bull**** is all about, and what that macho, male posturing and strutting around in bars and locker rooms represents. It's called '**** fear.' Men are terrified that their dicks are inadequate, and so they have to 'compete' in order to feel better about themselves. And since war is the ultimate competition, essentially men are killing one another in order to improve their genital self-esteem.

You needn't be a historian or a political scientist to see the Bigger **** Foreign Policy Theory at work. It goes like this: 'What? They have bigger dicks? Bomb them!' And of course, the bombs, the rockets, and the bullets are all shaped like penises. Phallic weapons. There's an unconscious need to project the national penis into the affairs of others. It's called '******* with people'.

George Carlin. Now tell me he's wrong.

So now you are advocating bombing the english

No, HE isn't, personally.

What he's actually doing is editing a piece of copy and pasted text ripped from a Merkin site - hence the rather strange references to things such as "this country is only 200 years old",   "I guess i'm not a very good American"and references to military action in Panama & Grenada.

It becomes increasingly clear that not only has he no knowledge of history, he is completely ignorant of Geography and Politics.

He also obviously doesn't read the rubbish he is pasting in its entirety, but simply spots a couple random quotes he thinks have some relevance and dumps the whole irrelevent mish-mash on us.,

I had to laugh at the bit about the US being good at wars; try and find one against any kind of military force where they won - not counting the times they had half the rest of the world helping them.

v Mexico - lost.

v Canada - lost (and got their arses SERIOUSLY kicked!!)

v Korea - stalemate - even with outside help!!

v Vietnam - lost

Hopefully he doesn't read it because some of what he has posted on here has been nasty racist stuff. It didn't last very long.

He also seems to fancy joining the FMOTL loonies.

NATO & the UN are just powerless when it comes to Russia, Putin and the killing going on in the Ukraine.

The USA being a supposed Super Power counts for nothing when there is no actions they can take or want to take.

http://bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-31067977

So what should they be doing?

Not a clue really.

But since all the Countries in NATO will spend more on Armed Forces than anything else in their Countries they might

actually have to use them in Action against and actual army and opposition that will fight back.

Allowing Putin to just keep land grabbing and securing the Sea Lanes, and Oil / Gas routes he wants will end in tears,

and some actions will need taken anyway but probably too late.

Yesterday the BBC were reporting that only 3 countries out of 28 in NATO spend 2% of their gdp on defence.

Also statistics online suggest that out of 9 categories, defence spending in the uk is 5th and accounts for less than a 10% of government spending.

Was that 'Defence Forces, the Military',

what do the actually spend on the Defence & Offences Industry, the Civil Servants & Supporting the Industries that are Private Contractors

& Covert Government Agencies.

Now the Twitter Troops.

If Putin is the person authorising war crimes and the one in charge of conduction war crimes,

then NATO Leaders need to 'Call him out', Name him, show the evidence,

Then Restrict any International Travel by him and the Governing Ministers.

Only problem being is the Other Leaders also authorise war crimes & illegal wars, so that is not going to work really is it.

That does seem to include related costs. Even if it didn't unless a large proportion is presented as health or pensions then there is significant spending elsewhere to add to it.

For the UK lets include Trident Replacement & Nuclear Clear ups in the Expenditure, and the related Industries,

& the Subsidising Ship Yards to provide employment.  it is all intertwined.

But anyway, killing people is not nice, and many are dying now in the Ukraine and elsewhere,

but as long as Prince Charles, other Royalty and other World Leader can go kissing the back side of the Head of Saudi Arabia

we will be OK.
