Anybody with a DSG had clutch problems ?

Featured Replies

I noticed today that my car was juddering whilst crawling in traffic.

Thinking about it, it has been happening for a few weeks.

Everything is fine when driving, so it only seems to be happening whilst in first and crawling.

I have a fantastic relationship with my local dealer (which is why I bought the car there. My car is used for work so I need to make sure I keep them onside so they can help me at times like this)

They have said it could very well be the clutch, and they have already seen this a couple of times.

It seems from the forum that I have one of the highest mileage MKIII with 24k.

Just wondered if anybody else had problems.

The car is booked in for next Tuesday and they may need it for 2-3 whilst skoda go through the diagnostics.

Thanks in advance.

if clutches are going at 24k I'm getting worried as I am just about to hit 20k, but on the 6 speed wet box - is yours a 7 speed dry clutch one?

Yes, mine is 7 speed.

I had a 6 speed in my MKII and it did just shy of 100k with no problems.

Sorry that would be the same 7sp dry clutch thats been in the Fabia vRS for years without major reported problems and not the 6sp wet clutch that'll stall you TDI engine at 46mph in Eco mode ?

No issues with mine so far or my previous car which I ran up to 22k without issues of any kind.

My Fabia occasionally does it if it's been sitting in traffic a lot - especially if crawling as it prefers to crawl in 2nd gear as soon as you use the throttle at all.  As soon as I'm moving again, it goes away.  DSG7 with 57k.

My Scirocco (DSG7 again) used to judder in 2nd gear going round slow uphill corners sometimes when hot after a long run as it (again) didn't like 1st gear until you were at a standstill, so would (again) slip the clutch pack in 2nd.  Only started doing it at about 60k but was still going strong with no further problems 50k later (it remained as a pool car and has only recently been sold - with almost 110k on it).

Doesn't stall mine in Eco mode.

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

Well, I shall see what they say when they have it in next week.

It does seem to be more prevalent once it is warm.

Sorry Andyvee, late night post I must have been tied, should have said vRS TDI

Wantaskoda, sounds like you've been the isolated unlucky one, hope they fix it soon for you
