2010 CR VRS problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I've been a long time stalker on the forum, mainly resolving anything through the search function!

But this problem, has got me slightly stumped, wondering if anyone else has had the same symptoms.......

Car is a 10 CR VRS TDI with now 100k on it. This problem has been present for the last approx. 5k.

The problem is the car going into limp mode when under load, glow plug light flashes. When scanned car has code P0087: Fuel Rail/System Pressure too low.

If car driven normally/not to hard between 1500 & 3500 rpm it will not go into limp mode. But if under 1500 / over 3500 and accelerate it will go into limp.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms and can point me in the direction of a possible solution?

Many thanks for any response

Marc

Sounds crazy but the first thing you need to do is change the fuel filter, this, if clogged can starve the rail, of fuel and reduce pressure.

Worth a try at about £10 for a filter, I had this on another car with common rail.

Thanks for reply defenderben. This was the first thing I tried approx 6 months ago. And did find a misfitted seal..... Had been pushed into filter. Hoped this would help..... But nope!

On another note. Rare occasion I had car today, did it in 5th at 55ish half throttle. 2000rpm.

Anyone else had a similar issue?

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Can someone not put a laptop on it or get it on a dyno to see what happens to the fuel pressure when its driving? It may just be a faulty fuel pressure sensor or a bit of crap in the fuel lines or a crushed or internally breaking up fuel line.

get the pressure checked in the rail, if it is too low then there is a problem with the high pressure pump
