I own a 2005 2.0 TDI Estate Octavia - Looking for Factory Alloys

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am new to the site and I acquired my first Skoda this week which replaced a dreadful Audi.

Its a 2005 Reg Octavia Estate in Silver, but it has the steel wheels..... which feel crap and look thin.

I was wondering what are the factory standard alloy options and what would the tyre sizes be?

Many thanks in advance

Mark in Coventry

Hi, I've had my Octavia estate, a 2.0 tdi for 7 yrs, it's excellent. Mine's the Elegance spec so it's got the standard 16 inch alloys on, the tyre sizes on mine are 205/55 r16 v. I've tried a few makes but the ones i prefer by far are Uniroyal Rainsports. In my opinion a fantastic tyre.

Regards , Monkster.

Monkster,

Thank you for your reply its something for me to work on!

Meanwhile the Skoda I have is trim level Ambient, but I honestly think the guy who bought this from new didnt tick any of the option boxes.

I'll have some Zeniths for sale next week as well. Wheels only, so you can decide on your own tyres.

Could sort out delivery if you wanted.

Bolero - just remember the CAN gateway upgrade as well, on a 2005 car.

Wardy, thank you for that I will keep an eye out when they become available Zenith wise.

thank you for the remind about the CAN gateway, its not something I fancy tackling alone to put it mildly....

Not too bad to sort on a MY05 car, having one myself :)

Just track down a suitable later gateway, as the 1st step. And if it works out with wheels and dropping them off etc, I can fit and code it for you

Drop me a PM if you want to discuss.

I am struggling to find tyres that fit the Zenith on the Kwik fit or National tyres website.... mind you it appears Vega alloys are easier to find tyres for.

Should I be worried?

Deffo try Blackcircles, I have used them a few times, can get the tyres fitted at VRS on Wheler Rd (near Matalan / Asda Whitley).

You will find that with most Skoda's to be honest as most were bought because they were value for money in std spec.

The Ambiente was a fairly basic trim level and if you wanted options it was cheaper to go up trim levels.

Ruffday - Thank you for your reply.....

Yeah the only upgrades I am looking at are Stereo, Alloys, Cruise control....

Lewwy, Ah yes VRS........ I remember when I had an old Audi about two cars ago and well Mot and er work...... I think the less said about that the best because it will not sound like the kind of PR, VRS want.

maybe they have changed though...... as it was a year before they moved to Wheeler Road/Severn Stars industrial estate....

I cant comment on the quality of any work VRS do only the tyre fitting part which I have used. Touch wood they have been fine for that so far. For mechanicals I have pretty much always used Walsgrave Garage, Woodway Lane.

Used iAuto in Longford a couple of times, but had an incident there which I wont divulge into here, apart from the fact the damage caused to my car cost over £1k to repair...

Lewwy, I always use the Lion Garage in Hinckley there isnt anyone in Coventry I trust having had incidents with the following

VRS

ATS

Independent Vauxhall Centre

S and T Auto's......

National Tyres

I now use Tyresales in Humber Rd.

Steve what are the width and ET of the 17" Zeniths?

Looking for some OE winter wheels for the Yeti as I don't think the RS4's will look right (not sure Zeniths would either though TBH lol)

Not too bad, 9mm further into the arch....

Pretty sure the steels and other winters being used will be a similar offset.

Are Lion Garage the VAG specialists? My mate used them i think and i know they are good but I thought they were very pricey for an independant.

Tyresales! Well after they fitted some new tyres on Clio Sport for me a few years ago they air gunned up the bolts inc. the locking bolts and knackered the bolts and the tool, so I had to spend about 3 hours drilling the bolts off the car and £20 on new locking bolts. Needless to say I avoid them now.

Where have you used for alignment? Most of the tyre places are crap in my opinion, have used Silverline in Warwick before, but when they did my Octavia I wasnt too pleased wth the job as it didnt feel right after a day or so.
