coilover advice

Featured Replies

Weitec come with the correct drop links to go about 50mm? Im after mine being just above the tyre.

Coilovers don't come with drop links typically.

Also your std drop links are fine. that remark in one of the add's is referring to "none VRS" coilovers that do not have the ARB bracket on them. None VRS models and VW golf "none sporty" models have drop links that go from wishbone to ARB and therefore the ARB is different in design and shape and it runs over drive shaft. When lowering none VRS models to 50mm or more the drive shaft hit's the ARB so different drop links are needed. You don't have this issue with the VRS. (except if buying the stupid designed Pro sport coilovers that made ARB bracket in wrong place)

Ok cheers for the info. Once again lol

Any news on the spax units?

Msg the ppl selling them on ebay and got this.

Good Morning

Many thanks for your enquiry

According to our Spax listing they don't actually exclude the VRS models but they don't list them specifically for the VRS model either. As far as we are aware and according to some other manufactures the same kit will fit all most models excluding 4wd which are different. The only note that Spax do have is as follows

17) At over 50mm lowering at the front, a modified anti roll bar link is required to prevent fouling. These are available from Spax part no's SUK001. Struts will not fit cars with the anti roll bar link attached to the strut

As discussed earlier these struts then are not the correct ones if they state " Struts will not fit cars with the anti roll bar link attached to the strut"

The VRS needs strut with the drop link bracket on them

It is true that coilovers for different models of same car are interchangeable like Weitec , KW etc as they  do not have different strut P/N  for the VRS specifically (well did not used to), but the important point is the strut must have the drop link bracket.

Spax are talking rubbish too as they do do a RSX strut with the bracket on it I know folks with them fitted.

probably look for a Seat LCR as same set up as ours with drop link
