  • Ouch. Sorry to hear that.   As you've gone down to the metal I would advise an 'official' dealer repair in order to maintain your anti rust warranty.

  • Where there's blame there's a claim eh?  If the curb was concealed by bushes surely its the OPs fault for driving into the bushes?

  • You should kerb your enthusiasm when negotiating curbs- Sorry! Wrong way round!

I must be blind, though I fully accept it's crap judging by the comments, what should I be looking for?

Front bumper is quite a bit darker than rest of car

I put that down to it being in shadow... it's hard to tell with photos like that.

"Should have gone to a well known opticians"

Local classic car place to me (Bath) re did my back bumper after the storms embedded a recycling bin in my bumper. Charged £150 and the match was perfect, let me keep the rest of the paint, can't tell the difference. local skoda dealer quoted £450 for the rear to be painted and average quote was £2-300. I'm shocked at the difference here for the top notch job.

The bumper does look darker in the photo, but then so do the lower doors. this kind of thing needs to be seen in the metal (or plastic I guess?) as the OP has done, or at least clear pics before making a judgment.

Eh?  It's very clear from the picture that the colour is out by a mile and given the bodyshop have agreed to re-do it I'd say that confirms it.

I'm totally not seeing this vast colour difference. I am seeing different shades due to shadows and reflections. Is that what we're getting excited about?

Whilst there are shadows they wouldn't fall off exactly where the bumper meets the bonnet between the lights. If you look there it's clearly darker.

I'm in no doubt it's a bad job as described from by the OP, but my eyes can't call it from that picture.

I agree pic isn't the best, but the new paint is too dark, I noticed it from the gate as I walked in,

it's a shame as it's a good job, it's just the wrong shade.

How can it be a good job if it's the wrong colour?

If it were a good job you wouldn't have rejected it.

I'm glad it's not just me. The OP deserves a good job though so if it ain't right, he should keep hold of his readies until it is.

Some of have said, you can't see the vast difference in colour, I sometimes in certain lights, (usually bright sunshine) wonder what I'm making a fuss about,

but take a few paces away from the car, & then I see it, It's not far out, but not correctly matched, so it's getting done again 4th June.

I was referring to the quality of the workmanship when I said it was a good job, my only compliant is it's slightly too dark, compared with the rest of the car.

I put that down to it being in shadow... it's hard to tell with photos like that.

I struggled to see it at first, but if you look at the very front of the bumper, it does look too dark for race blue, even if it was in shadow.

Again, that's not even close.

It's much clearer in those photos, hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

Lol, the material underneath has no bearing on colour.  Provided the paint is mixed right it was too dark because they applied the basecoat too wet.

I had a C1 for a week once, had a bad back for 2 months because of it, good luck.

Manager called to say he wasn't happy with it this time!!!

I went & had a look at it, it's better, but still not right.

Car remains with them, specialized camera coming Monday to match paint,

by computer, got the C1 until Tues/Wed now.

Front of the car's gonna end up a bit heavier at this rate!

Got my car back, guy says he's not happy as one corner has silicone in the paint,

it's minimal, literally a couple of spots underneath ns fog light, colour is pretty good, not perfect,

but I think I'm going to accept it, they want to re-do ns corner Sat, but I'm going to phone them tomorrow,

& accept it. Their valeting leaves a lot to be desired!!!

What's the colour like compared to the rear bumper?
