CAI and open filter do you mean the k&n cone air filter type?

Cai I mean a cold air induction kit that has cone filter on it.

Like a k&n cone. A open filter is just a filter onto the maf like a k&n cone.

The cai is a better option

So had a scare this morning! On the way to work, Engine light comes on, car starts to stutter/hold back. Had a look couldn't see anything. Took it to JBS (round corner from my work luckily) plugged it in....just a loose connection causing misfire cylinder 3. Phew.

Now onto my major gripe with this car the front bumper

No idea with this. Before I remove the bumper does anyone know if there is a clip behind there that could be missing?

TBH I think i'll just try and find a bumper in the same colour and replace. Really annoys me stuff like this.

I had this issue

As the bumper is bolted at the side to the wing chances are it is either a pushed in wing or more likely a deformed bumper and no amount of wing pulling will get the two aligned if that is the case A new bumper is the best bet.

Hopefully fit tonight see how it goes.

Welcome to the website mate, you will love your VRS, I bought mine (same colour) 4 yrs ago, it is mapped to 225bhp with no other mods and pulls like a train, it is the first car that I have not wanted to get rid of after 12 months and that says a lot as I have had about 30.

Now you have started your mods I hope you have deep pockets you will find so much stuff in the various threads you won't know what to buy next, I hope SWMBO is very understanding   :hi:

I have/had the very same kit. Makes all sorts of wooshy and tishy noises but my car is missing some plastic guards underneath and the filter was getting wet and rusty.

Turned up today in the post - boost gauge and some cheap ebay special seat covers.

Hopefully fitting the induction kit and boost gauge tonight.

Does anyone know where I could get some VRS seat covers?

Also where would I find my paint code or does anyone know the paint code for my 2004 octy?

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

The paint code for you VRS should be underneeth the trunk carpet, on a sticker.

and on the sticker in the front of the service logbook.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but that's a nice looking Mk1!  I turn 30 in November and I'm picking up my first VRS, hopefully, on Tuesday :)
