Free servicing.... How to?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Wondering if anybody can advise me on the free/included servicing.

When I bought my Octavia a year ago it was supposed to come with 3 years free servicing as part of the deal.

I bought the car from a dealer in Mansfield but live in County Durham so I've got the car booked in for its first service at a local dealer on Tuesday.

When I booked it in I mentioned it but they couldn't see anything on the system so advised bringing the paperwork with the car.

To cut a long story short I'm off on holiday on Monday, my dad is taking the car Tuesday and I've just checked through the paperwork and I can't see any mention of the free servicing anywhere.

Can anybody who's had this kind of deal let me know if they had paperwork with theirs or how they redeemed it? I'll ring the dealers/finance company in the morning anyway but thought I'd ask you fine people first.

Many thanks in advance

Call your supplying dealer.

Get them to confirm that you are on the three years/30,000 miles free servicing and to get the system updated.

I may have something but can't remember but it should all be on the main Skoda system. I know when I book the wife's Monte in I have to go to my garage and find the old number plates as that is what the car is registered as on the system.

Have this on my Superb, like you I didn't get any paperwork, however I just booked the car in for its first service and advised the dealer it had a service plan. The servicing dealer is not the supplying dealer, they just checked with Skoda Finance and no bill to pay by me. They did know in advance as I always book via the online booking system via Skoda website as I cannot be bothering trying to get through to the service dept, and they always phone to confirm, just clicked have service plan button.

I got it all on paper in the post from SUK listing what the free offer entitles me too, 3 free services, one every 10k miles or 12 months and a brake fluid change at 3 years.

When I had mine serviced i just told them I got the free servicing deal with it and they said fine.

Same here, got a letter from SUK, and all it said was to tell the servicing dealer you were on the Service Plan, no need to take the letter in. Looks like they forgot to register you for the free servicing.

+1 here, I also got the paperwork via SUK but it took about 3 months to come through, meanwhile I had queried it as I had settled the finance early (pre 0% deal!) but eventually got two copies of the service plan agreement. Had two services done so far, not had to show any paperwork, just mentioned to dealer that on free service plan and they just sorted it.

I didn't receive any paperwork from Skoda but when booking in for the first service I told the dealer I was on a service plan. They asked for my mileage as they said they needed to get authorisation from Skoda before the service could be done. The delaer must have got approval as I walked out after the service without paying anything.....that's a nice feeling.

I also didn't get anything from VWFS or Skoda for ours (Citigo, but same system applies), but it is being serviced at the supplying dealer, so they should know.

It should be on the central system as they're all linked anyway - they just send the bill to VWFS and job done.

My company Fabia had 30k free servicing, but that only meant one free one on variable servicing.  As it had a new engine at 22k, they did get the second service free for "good will"..  3rd (54k or so) had to be paid for (at 18 months old) but also needed a new CV boot.

I had a similar issue with Pulman (assuming that is the local dealer in Durham you are using).

When I mentioned the service plan over the phone when booking it in they asked me for the 'agreement number' from the paperwork.

I didn't have it to hand so they said no worries we can check using your VIN (they already had this due to them servicing the car before).

However when they checked there was no service plan connected to the car. When I rang back with the agreement number they couldn't match it to the car.

In the end I had to ring VW Finance and they sorted it for me. Looks like the plan wasn't set up correctly in the system for some reason.
