Haha... the marketing people in Milton Keynes messed up Audi too

Featured Replies

As we all know the brochure people doing the Škoda brochures in Milton Keynes at SUK have no idea what a car is or how options work or what the general customer out there would really want in their car. The brochure anomalies are an utter joke in most every brochure.

No surprise then that they also messed things up royal for Audi:

Multi nationals lying!   Surely not.

What i find more interesting than the ignorance of the Dealers salespeople, is a sentence in the BBC report from Aled Williams, of Euro NCAP - "Euro NCAP is not a regulatory body, we have no legislative powers."

So in fact despite all of the hype, crash dummy testing film and claim that they include 7 Eiropean governments, they are actually no more than a Quango.

Now, I reckon that the very fact that I am a member here means that i'm generally more savvy about cars than most of the general public, but even I had always assumed that Euro NCAP was an official testing organisation, along the lines, or even part of, for example, ISO, SAE etc.

It seems that Audi dealers are not the only ones guilty of giving out information that may be inaccurate and misleading.

It is a fact that the NCAP testing is so accurate and informative that drivers and car makers do take heed of their findings.   If the UK or Euro governments got involved it would take away the impartiality of NCAP testing.

As with British Formula  1 our British engineers are amonst the best in the world.

The one thing missing from Audi's response? An apology.

Indeed. Also noone seems to be bothered that this is pure proof car salesmen are just yes men that say anything and everything to sell a car. I have many times been tempted to ask silly questions to see if they go 'of course it does, sir!'

I seem to remember reading earlier this year that the Volkswagen Group were to use one Marketing Company for 5 of the brands in the UK.

Maybe i dreamt it or it was Marketing Spin from one of the brands media departments.

Volkswagen Group UK (VWG) appointing 'dbg' to do the Central marketing.

Lets hope they can get the Lost In Translation sorted out.

If you look at the results for the Audi models that have already been Euro Ncap tested, the results are pretty good, so it would be fair to think that other models from the same manufacturer would be pretty good as well.  They can do crash analysis on computer and can predict quite accurately how the car will stack up, they'll do their own crash tests as well to verify the computer results.

The BBC are a bit biased and sensationalist in their reporting, their article implies that the Euro Ncap result was the most important factor in the decision to buy a R8.

The BBC have reported on it as it's covered on Rogue Traders tonight... in 15 minutes from now infact!

I can't believe Audi are the only ones doing this?

And anyway, aren't most of Audi's cars based on another model that DID go through the NCAP tests. So isn't an A5, just the same as an A4 for safety?

I note from the EuroNCAP website that a BMW 7 series doesn't appear to have been tested in its current form or the X5 since 2003. I wonder what BMW sales people say?

Sounds like another non-storey from the BBC. I guess one of their directors wasn't impressed with the "customer service" he got when he took his Q7 in for servicing!

It doesn't matter one bit if the rest of Audi's cars are 5 star rated or the A5 is derived from one that is too. The A5 does not have a 5* NCAP rating and people base buying decisions on information such as this. To say that it does to make the sale is fraud and legally no different from claiming it has a million horsepower.

Surely this is staff in franchised dealers giving out wrong information. It's not Audi themselves making the mistake.

True Dr Z...  BUT it is Audi themselves and said marketing people that need to get them out of this mess and they seem to be doing zero about it.

After 48 out of 50 dealers cocked up the BBC decided to ring Audi UK, they also lied!

Get over it lol who thought sales guys told the truth anyway? Most of them know little about the models never mind details.

Sales....tell you what you want to hear

Having browsed the EuroNCAP website, I'd say there's quite a few manufacturers desperately sending memos to dealers right now regarding which of their range have and haven't been tested. It is entirely optional to submit a car for testing and EuroNCAP can only afford to test a certain number of cars without manufacturer support. Note also that the NCAP rating is only technically valid for the actual model (including any extras) tested, but NCAP allow manufacturers to use the rating in promotional material for all cars in the range (except cars with a different body, e.g. saloon vs estate.)

Whilst telling customers that something is relevant to the car they're interested in when it's not true is clearly misleading, I can't believe anyone on here (or anywhere else) would genuinely believe that any Audi cars weren't safe!

If there was anyone who would jump to the defence of Audi...

Not at all, I couldn't care less as I knew the a5 didn't along with the R8 too.

I'm not defending them, actually read! I stated sales tell you what you want to hear. I have little time for them no matter brand as they only after your cash. That's why I research things myself not rely on sales

Most of them know little about the models never mind the details....... Yeah really defending them!! Pft good one

Our A6 Allroad hasn't been tested, now we're too scared to drive it, what should we do . . . .  contact Watchdog so we can express are concern / anger / disappointment / demand our money bag from those lying tow**** at Audi   ??!!??!!??

NCAP only tested a 2011 saloon, so clearly we're driving a potentially an unsafe car!

Frankly I don't give a ****, but please feel free to laugh at my stupidity when you read about the death of an A6 Allroad driver 'op north' whose car didn't provide the crash protection it should have done

I'm sure you will be fine ;)

They should lie in the opposite direction. Tell folk your cars have the crash resilliance of a 1990 Golf instead of the indestructable Panzer wagon they think they're buying. Might pay a bit more attention/ respect when the crumple zones are your knees and face.

But after asking did they tell you it had received the highest crash test standards? No, so there is no issue in your case.

Just as worrying is the amount of people who take car salesmen/main dealer's word as fact.

Totally agree! They only want ur signature. I always research everything important to me first. Sales no matter the industry only want sales
