Airbag error

Featured Replies

First gremlin has struck.

Yellow airbag error warning appears on maxidot each time on start up the last few days.

Then the small yellow airbag sign on dials stays illuminated.

Anyone else had this?

Service due warning now showing also, just done 18k miles, service due in 1000 miles.

Best to take it to dealer now, or could I carry on and get it checked at the service?

I would get it into the dealer as soon as possible. You never know when your going to need a working airbag and crash protection system. I would suspect the fault COULD render the system as non operational or only partially working in event of an accident  .

Get it in ASAP with airbag errors.

Worse case is it fires in error, then you have a very expensive bill as I doubt if they would cover it under warranty if you had been driving round for a while with the light on. They will know, as the time and date the error occurs are logged.

Why not try calling Skoda Assist? They should sort you out a hire car - you could argue that it isn't safe to drive a car with the airbag warning light on?

If the warning light is on then something has been deactivated due to a fault.

Phoned dealers today.

Got it booked in on Monday - neither of my two closest dealers could fit it in tomorrow.

Dealer thinks it could be a sensor fault, they need to get it in to run diagnostic on it.

Careful driving this weekend!

Shame that a fault has cropped up, still less than a year old.

I had a very brief DING! warning today and airbag fault warned in display.

Dealer "has no clue about it, we should get it fault read. Approx 1 week waiting time". So, not too happy about that.

Anyone else having some more updated experience regarding this? Think I'll check around or worst case read out myself with iCarsoft 908 (it doesn't feature mk3 Octavia even if stated on website though...).

Happened to me with my MK II. Dealer said that it's 99% a faulty reading and that's what it was.

Well on the MK2 at least, IIRC they had made the early ones seat wiring just a bit too short, so they worked but if you put the seat all the way back too quickly if could cause a fault reading,
