vrs engine idle

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I just wanted to check that this is correct. I was checking a few bits today and noticed the engine was shaking slightly.

Is this characteristics of the 1.4TSI?

Its always run 99 either shell or tesco.

Brought at new. Not been touched as of yet, service next month.

Only been topped up with oil when needed. Checked every week.

13k miles.

It needs to go on the Diagnostics soon, very soon.

Drive it with care.

Low miles,  but get all 4 spark plugs checked.

Do not thrash it,

i have never heard a Twincharger sound that bad.

Even one running on 3 cylinders.

No idea what is wrong, sorry.

??? What were you doing to it, before taking the Video,

have you had the plastic Cover off,

Was it OK up to now?

It could be on 3 cylinders, and there does sound like something broken.

(sounds more like on 2 cylinders to me.)

A spark Plug tip off.  a Valve Gone, a Broken Ring,  just so many things to guess at.

Lets hope nothing of the sort.

The Video sound is good,

the engine is very bad.

Skoda assist came out this morning.

Plugged in code reader, no faults found. check injectors all seated correctly. Mr assist seemed to think the engine tone was normal...

Next step a Skoda dealer,

If you can be bothered,

After its cooled down properly,   How about filming it again,  but on Start Up.

Just listened to post #1 again, and really can not believe how it sounds.

Did it drive OK today?

Seemed to drive OK today.

I shall film on Cold Startup and after a run...

Mine sounds like that at idle with the bonnet open, I do remember thinking to myself it sounds like a diesel. Never had any issue with it, covered nearly 19k. In for its second service very soon though. Might just see what the dealer says about it.

It sounds sort of normal, but not at the same time. There is certainly something making a slightly unhealthy sound.

Would be interesting to whip the plugs out and see what condition they are in. A slight misfire could be causing it.

When I leave work I'm going to start mine cold with the bonnet open and film the results to compare.
