Hmmmmm Time to find out what this cream leather's really like....

Featured Replies

Found a couple of nice looking Superb Twin Doors within about 35 miles from home both tick the boxes spec, mileage and price wise but both have cream leather/interior which in pictures i'm not sure i'm a fan of. One is 10 plate black pearl and the other is a 60 plate capuccino so think it's time to go and see what the interior is like in the flesh.

Just thinking it might be a bit much to keep clean with a four year old using the car??? And the mrs thinks the fact i wear jeans a lot will stain it.

its probably as bad as having a mk1 vrs with those cream seats

Yeah that's what part of me is thinking..... I've had the Fabia vRS grey seats over 8 years and two cars so maybe it'll not be as bad as i'm thinking.

Part of me thinks the cream/ivory is a nice contrast with the Black pearl exterior.....

Does make a good contrast and being leather would also be relatively easy to clean up - in comparison to the cloth anyway.

The ivory is not as difficult as you might think to keep clean, in fact it cleans very well when wiped.  My 2011 Superb also had the ivory interior and there was no noticeable wear or issues after three years of driving - and my mileage is on the high side.  Regarding the jeans, well yes you will notice some slight blue staining on the seats from the jean fabric after a while but give it a wipe every so often and its a not an issue. Hacing said that I wouldn't wear jeans every day so others might have more experience.

A damp cloth over the leather seats every few weeks works for me.  I don't use leather cleaners as they only make the seats too shiny and slippery.

The ivory looks really well against a dark colour.  I've seen silvers and even whites and it doesn't work so well with those exterior colours

Ivory and denim is a bad combination.

Yes they always look better with a contrasting interior (for that reason alone I would not even look at a Cappachino with ivory car)

I use Dr. Leather wipes and they return the leather back to the satin finish it came out of the factory with.

The ivory is not as difficult as you might think to keep clean

Unlike the black pearl which is a sodding nightmare!

as long as you have the black carpets - Ivory leather(ish) will be fine as others have said.

If the cars in question have an Ivory carpet.... that can be be a pain to keep clean.

I've got ivory leather & carpets - stupidly didn't spot there was a choice!!!! arghhhh

Go for it either way nice car - but my pref would be for Capuccino.... we're all different - LOL

Enjoy!

I don't have a kid to mess up the seats, but i do work with lots of building materials etc, the ivory leather holds up well to be honest. The only annoying thing for me is how much surface area there is to condition every now and then!

Even with black it shows up dust and crap where as the ivory hides it well.

It doesn't stain, and it doesn't loose colour. Id totally have it again because it makes the car feel much more exclusive and it feels more spacious.

You'll also appreciate it in the darker winter months when you haven't got a black interior.

Train your kid and better half well and you will all be happy, lol i doubt it will be that simple??! Maybe it will be!

Id recommend buying a set of black matts though if you walk on mud, gravel a lot. But even after that a quick hoover when its dry and its fine. :)

How's it working out Leon? Been on a few months now?

I've used the L1 on my seats, the leather sections and I1 on the alcantara. Planning on topping them both up over the weekend all being well.

Given I've done 70k you can't notice it at all.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it isn't actually leather at all, but plastic made to look like leather. I have had both black, on a Superb, and cream on a Legacy. The cream does mark quite easily, but pale carpets hide dirt better; also the cabin is a much lighter place to be with cream interior. Still, I prefer black.

Good so far!

I was a idiot the other day when I was trying to pick up a load of stuff at once and forgot to put the lid on a biro... wiped off with no fuss.

The seats are still as fresh looking since the day I bought it back in last august. done 11k so far with no real issues, thats the great thing with leather it's so easy to wipe down, where as cloth seems like a mission especially if you have pets and the hair just finds it way into the seat.  :wonder:

I love the look and feel of the alcantara, shame it's not an option on elegance spec here like it is in the CZ.

I'd look at Gtechniq L1 Leather Guard, if you end up with a lighter interior and are concerned about denim dye transfer and the like.

Good price from CYC too:

Thanks guys.... Will look into this if i get an ivory interior.

It's swings and roundabouts with the two i'm thinking of looking at this weekend..... The black one i think looks better with the ivory interior but is a March 2010 registered '10 plate' car (So maybe issues using iPhone5 & 5S via bluetooth????), whereas with the Cappuccino one i'm not sure about the colour with the ivory interior but it's a newer November 2010 '60 plate' car and is from a Skoda dealer so has a better warranty.

Let's see how things go first though.

Yep - always worth actually trying out stuff like phone connection too, when you view the car
