A Sportage Replacement

Featured Replies

Looking for a bit of advice. I currently have a 13 reg Koa Sportage 1.6 petrol (2wd) and I really do not like it. Horribly under powered engine, uneconomical (mid 30s mpg) ...

Mid 30s mpg seems OK for a petrol crossover (and I suspect a Yeti 1.2 will be only slightly better). I hate to think what you'll lose on value selling that Kia though! Good luck.

At my age I've decided, stuff it, I only want to drive a car I love and within reason fuel consumption shouldn't be made such a big deal.

If you don't look forward to jumping in it, don't buy it or keep it.

For me life's too short.

Do you know, you're right. The reason I'm on here is because I made the wrong choice with my current car, knowing all along that I wanted a Freelander. And here I am again looking at a more sensible option. If I sell my Sportage for a reasonable amount, I will buy a Freelander.

Thank you for all the posts though, this is a spectacularly helpful forum and I really appreciate all the feedback.

According to Parkers and a couple of other valuations, I *should* get about £16,300 for it at private sale. We shall see.

£16.3k ! How many are you selling?

It's less than a year old with 5.5k miles. Was just over £20k new with optional extras.

I switched from a 170 diesel to the 1.8 petrol as I only cover about 10,000 miles a year now and virtually every piece of research I did suggested that 12,000 a year was the break-even point for diesel. There are also, of course, increasing health concerns about the muck that even modern diesel engines put into the air.

Having said that, and despite liking the added quietness and general refinement of my petrol engine, I do miss the extra 'grunt' of the diesel and, when I progress to my third Yeti in a few years time (as I almost certainly shall) I will look very closely at what is available in what I assume will be a new generation of diesel engines by then.
