2008 vRS sub

Featured Replies

There is a high mileage race blue FSI for sale on Autotrader, ok no mention of tax, MOT or service history in the ad (it just mentions the vRS features, none of the 'important' stuff!), and is 145,000 miles, but £3,800 really?  Seems too cheap to be true IMO

All cars look good in the photos, so prob rough in the flesh, I might just give it a call to enquire further on the history

For that mileage it's probably about right.

Got a Columbus SatNav too...

Haha, edited out the reg on all the pictures....apart from the last one! :giggle:

I noticed the reg!  And satnav.  I know high mileage usually means a bit cheaper sale price (I thought it was 2006 initially until saw the last photo then read the ad properly again) but it's nearly half the price of other 2008's I've seen for sale, I'm assuming it doesn't have tax and MOT as not mentioned, I'll just call rather than debate it on here lol

Id do a hpi check on it just to check its not a write off/repaired or has finance outstanding on it,lot of car for the money. Its got maxidot as well as the sat nav etc. Mines exactly the same car without the sat nav & maxidot & 100k less miles & i paid £13k for it when it was 2 years old with 11k on it.......scary how the values have dropped so much lately.

I phoned and someone is meant to be picking it up this weekend, so I didn't ask any further questions as seemed a bit pointless.

Hpi would've been a must if I was going to do a deal with the chap.

I guess price is relative, if you were to buy a 2 year old with that mileage now would be at least what you paid.  But a well looked after car that you know inside out is worth more than the cheaper Mk2's out there, they still seem to be up to £8k age and mileage dependant. (if that makes sense!)

But you can seem to get a mk2 very cheaply now

Just traded in my 07 Mk2  TFSI (82k) for £4k.

Will be interested to see what it is resold for.

What have you gone for out of interest?

Octy was starting to feel its age, plus I was getting bored of the road noise and sports suspension. And maybe just a bit bored in general, I've had the VRS since new in 2007.

Son is getting a bit older now too so an estate with roof bars was looking practical.

Drove the Honda and it was rather pleasant if unexciting. Octy felt pretty brutal after it.

Honda was £12k which looking around was a reasonable figure, and £4k for the Octy was a decent offer for a trade in. I got a discount off an extended warranty so I've got 3yr on it like a new car.

All dependent on the VRS going through its MOT on Tuesday

Couple of years ago private sellers were reluctant to take my 56 plate with c60k on it for anything over 5k. Petrol VRS doesn't seem hold so well anymore.

Still see the odd blackline at a dealers for more than it would've been new though. Talk about taking the pish........

I was offered £5200 for the VRS 2yr ago. So its not lost too much in that time. The biggest hit seems to be at the 3 year point. Not that many petrol VRSs about for sale right now and those on the forecourt are overpriced IMHO. Still that possibly helped me to get a decent trade in.
