Hi Thanks for your reply, but it seems that they haven't got them either,,

  • Author

well one of them wont entertain me cos ime not a trader,,,,,,so I don't know if they have them or not,

Skoda dealer may be your best bet

You can still get them from the skoda dealer yes, the rear lower one is about £12 if I recall.

ok Ill give them a go , £12 seems cheap for Skoda,

Yeah I was surprised too, you can get a genuine skoda part cheaper than a pattern part off ebay.

Tom , while your on , any particular problems with replacing them ?, also I have another problem... overheating, but for that, should i make a new thread?

The lower one is easy to change, 13mm 16mm & 18mm spanners/sockets required. The gearbox side mount is a pig to change, it requires draining the gear oil and unbolting the whole end casting/5th gear cover piece from the transmission case and using a hydraulic press to replace the bush

overheating is provably a broken thermostat or even the housing sometimes breaks internally so the stat has nothing to push against.

Tom many thanks for your guidance, ill order them tomorrow and see how it goes,, ,Overheating........... the full story   car running good   no probs , except a little hesitancy, on acceleration, temp gauge runs at 2/3 hot  , all this started when it ran very hot one day Broke down,, Green Flag got me home   said it could be a head gasket, ..... on checking the stat , I realised that I had the dreaded thermo plastic bit broken off.....,  Replaced it and the thermo, but now still runs at 2/3 temp but when I shut down the engine it seems to keep on pumping water into the overflow tank for about 30 secs and, after a few days the water(coolant) runs low,   maybe is a gasket? I have just ordered a kit to test exhaust gas in the rad, am I on the right track or what, ime thinking gasket.....or have you got any other possibilities,  kind regards  John

Are you getting any steam from the exhaust?

  • Author

No, none at all......

it's probably leaking then, mine leaks from the heater matrix core and the radiator, and a few other places too. it's an absolute legend. :rain:

I tried the kit for testing exhaust gas in the coolant, but because a fun hasn't got a rad, I had to test it  via the pressure bottle,  went like this,

Plugged it in the tester  ,

Coolant got hot'

Expanded and ruined the test results....another waste of Wonga.......

Oh Tom, There is steam in the exhaust!, don't know why I never noticed it before.............
