HELP! Multiple warning lights and beep!

Featured Replies

Wouldn't be much point in giving you a security code with the security object.

Its held in the unit or in Skodas database.

i think its pointing more and more to the instrument cluster, as when driving today i noticed the fuel temp & rev's start dipping erratically at the same time.

ordered a used dash off ebay to verify this, if all goes well i should just need to find some generous briskodian to code it :)!

fingers & pedals crossed folks!!!!

Might just be a dry solder joint on the back of the cluster. Quite a common problem.

Could very much be! But as the car is approaching 100k it's worthwhile keeping spare for £15! At least nothing critical has died, who needs steering abs asr anyway and airbags? Psshhh

Indeed :D

Well the new clocks arrived today and,,,,,

no change :(

Whats next? Im assuming the J500 controller? which is integrated into the PAS pump so trialling a new pump? either that or trialling a new ECU?

I remember an issue line this from years ago on rossys car. Faulty ecm or cem I think it turned out to be.

Could you clarify what you mean here, ECM, CEM?

Any help would be appreciated if you've seen this before!

Out of interest did you try a new battery and check the earth?

  • Author

Havent tried a new battery, I did a full charge and checked the voltage levels, with this all happening after driving through a huge puddle that side ( i thought i wonder why people slow down for puddles..zoom..next day..no PAS ASR ABS handbrake warning light is on and passenger air bag warning ) I assumed something had shorted or died :/ - if its not then thats a huge result :D

And with you saying the earth..you mean just tracing the negative lead back from the battery onto where it meets the shell? if so then erm..no not yet..

Just a thought really, difficult to pin down electrical faults are often battery or earthing issues.

Ill see if i can borrow another battery to test this after ive checked the eathing points

I had a similar experience, I had my car valeted with strict instructions NOT to use a pressure hose in the engine compartment, guess what !

When I collected it, there was an Engine Light illuminated on the dash panel, I tried all sorts, ending up taking it to my trusted garage.

I understand the plugs & sockets that connect into the ECU had to be blow dried with an airline and then a spray of WD40, fault codes cleared, and that did the trick.

So maybe as well as the ECU, treat all other plugs & sockets with the same procedure.

DB.

I would next be checking the CAN network, this can be done in measured block values. Look to see if either Hi and Low lines are working. If it is a CAN fault with the pump disconnecting it should bring the other units back online. There is a very common wiring issue under the battery and ABS pump within the main harness, open up the insulation and there is quite often a lot of green corrosion in the loom.

Will try this, thanks tech1e

Right, I did another VCDS lite full scan just as during the hot weather the beeping had gone from beep..beep..to bepepepepepepepep..to beep................................beep.

There seems to be no pattern to this, tomorrow  i will remove the wheel arch tomorrow on the passenger side and disconnect the PAS pump power plug (I believe you can get to it this way, or do i need to remove the entire pump first to get at these connectors?)

Along with this I'll remove and strip the ECU to check for water damage and reseal, I may take the J500 controller apart (if possible) to check for water damage and reseal.

ANyway the new scan revealed the following:

I found these during single module checks (I cleared the codes afterwards)

Whats up with address 46? It just seems to copy the same text everywhere!

I have no idea what the fuse sections relate to as all of the offending systems work fine!!

bah! don't spray wd40 on your eletrics!

But it's non conductive and removes moisture? Isn't it the easiest method of ensuring bits of water aren't hiding inside the connectors?

I couldnt rescan the car at the minute as VCDS is playing up on the new laptop - it wont recognise a lead in any usb port..grr

i stripped down the front of the car and noticed there was still some of that god awful foam covering the front of the pump, which i removed..which apparantely was holding water (A LOT), which had corroded the pump (it went green)

I went lock to lock to remove all air bubbles (seemed to suffer a lot with that and caused issues before) whilst drying out the pump for an hour by applying heat directly - NO CHANGE

I noticed the pump isnt drawing power anymore as the lights dont dim when turning the wheel so i have assumed the pump is now DEAD, Roll on friday to collect my 06 VRS !

It was nine years ago and Aaron hasn't visited the site in three years so I doubt he'll respond.
