1.2 TSI fuel consumption

Featured Replies

A good surprise today: I took my brand new 1.2 TSI 86 on a long-ish (just over 60 miles) A-roand motorway drive. Two-up, keeping it consistently just below the speed limits (and between 60 and 70 mph on the M-way), the car returned 50.7 mpg. I'm very impressed, to be honest - last time I had a petrol-engined car, I would be happy to see 30 mpg.

What kind of mileage have people been getting out of TSIs in the real world? And did you feel the mpg improved after the car was run-in?

My TSI 105 recently did 49 mpg on a run from East London to Pontefract with fast A Roads and/or Motorways at around the legal limit, much better than my previous Cooper Clubman 1.6 petrol! ;)

My overall which also included 100 miles or so around town was 43.7 mpg.

As everyone will say the trip computer isn't as accurate as you think but its close enough. My TSI gets a average of 50MPG on motorway's and I have the 105BHP. Best I have ever had with the trip computer is 60.5MPG.

I'm very happy with the economy of it! :D

This is mine 1.2 TSI 105

50 mpg is easily doable in a 1.2 Tsi, that's why we just love them.

Yeah, the TSI is proving to be a great little piece of kit in terms of fuel efficiency, smoothness and easy performance. It's why I went for it in the first place, but I am surprised the engine is already delivering better than my expectations - it's got just over 200 miles on the clock! Things can only get better. :nerd:

On the way back from the Combe action day, I averaged 57MPG and that was over an 1 hour 30mins trip... before that Id never seen higher than 50mpg. My car obviously liked being hammered round the track and doing 15mpg haha

Hello,

Is this US miles per gallon ?

Mine is 5 speed and gets only 44 US MPG

The MPG's being quoted are Imperial Gallons so 4.546 litres.

You are doing well getting 44 miles from a US Gallon of 3.72 litres.

I have a 86hp averaging 46mpg now 52 with a TMC box.

No, it was UK MPG

I commute 18 miles each way through the Lincolnshire countryside and regularly see over 50mpg. On a very good day I can see 56 or 57mpg so very happy with the economy. I still want to get it re-mapped though because I fancy a few more bhp.
