Potential Citigo Issues

Couldn't make this up...the manager at Platinum has been dealing with this personally, which I thought would be a good thing. However, he is on holiday until Monday 23rd June and has left no instructions with anyone, so apparently nobody has no knowledge or power to do anything at all at the moment.

  • I don't know how a dealer can sell a car in that condition-disgraceful service.

  • Thanks guys. Couldn't find any email addresses apart from my sales person, so for now I've sent that off with a very detailed explanation (with the photos) and a bunch of questions, I will see what ha

Are you still in the courtesy car?

If so keep hold of it until the 23rd, then ring the guy up on his first day back and tell him you want your money back.

That'll teach him to get things in order before he buggers off on holiday.

Yes,think it's time to involve Skoda UK in this matter, the service you have received is a disgrace!.

No they just had mine in to assess it last week, back in mine now whilst waiting for the bodyshop to be booked in. Amazing that a) it was seemingly forgotten about, and B) nobody else can now rectify the situation.

So what is your plan, to deal with this pathetic treatment then?

Copy should also be sent, for the urgent attention of the CEO of the dealership group /skoda.

Exercise your 30day/1000mile right and make sure they do not try to clobber you with any admin charges, pretty sure there is some sneaky small print, in the no quibble 30day/1000mile thing!

You must be getting close on the 30 days now, if not close on the miles, as soon as either of those are exceeded they will wriggle. You will end up with some sort of repair.

Get everything written down in a chronological order and forward a copy to the dealer and a copy to SUK.

It is the best way to keep yourself protected.

I've spoken to Skoda about the 30 day/1000 mile thing, it's barely worth the paper it's printed on. Unless there is a serious fault with the car (which there isn't) the dealer has to be given the chance to rectify it, and even then you don't get a refund, but a replacement from the same dealers stock. If stuck to strictly everything is placed on the customer, all costs, effort etc.

As for what I'm doing, currently putting this all in writing to the dealership itself, the MD at the head office of the group that owns the dealership, and Skoda UK. Considering the dealership literally don't want to know at this point for another 10 days or more I'm not sure what else to do.

Frustratingly I'm away the w/c 23rd anyway, and between a baby due soon, work and various other things it's a nightmare trying to find time to sort things.

Ask Skoda and Dealer what approved vehicles means to them and the Customers perception.

Contact Trading Standards about you situation and what the 30 day contact means legally.

Send a follow up email for the Attention of Alasdair Stewart Brand Director an Skoda UK.

Also send a letter to BBC Watchdog and maybe the local Bath Paper.

It's take only a few minutes to speak to Skoda UK and for them to open a case:

08457 745745, option 4.

Once the case is opened it is then for Skoda to liaise with the dealer.

Put the ball in their court.

It's with Skoda UK (was as of first thing Monday), told I would hear something within 48hrs, but nothing yet, I will chase up and see how it's going tomorrow.

That's good ,let hope they make the dealer do the right thing and replace or money back.

By the way, was at Turners on Tuesday, they have a couple of nice red Sports ONE NEW AND ONE DEMO look good and covered by good deal I think.

Best of luck .

Any contact from Skods UK and or Dealer for a resolution?

Chased them (Skoda) up this morning again, unfortunately when they phoned back it was on my home number (my complaint went in by email and didn't have my home number on it, so that was odd) so didn't get the message until after their office hours, and as I'm away next week it's looking like it's going to drag on for a while yet.

Nothing from the dealership, but wasn't expecting anything given the manager is still on holiday.

Reject, reject & reject!

If you wanted this sorting, you should have taken the car back when you noticed the issue and stuck it on the forecourt and refused to drive another mile!

Asked for your money back or swap the car, then put the keys on the desk and walked!

I did with an issue I noticed within 15mins of buying a nearly new car. My issue was taken up with them straight away and resolved to the tune of over £1000 worth of upgrades and sorted in 2 days at the dealers!

I had no need to go SUK, stood my ground nose to nose with the dealer principle and got it sorted on the spot, no way was I letting it roll on!

Ohh and don't get me wrong , I'm not one of these blame claim complain people but when someone or an organisation try to take the mick, they get both barrels in a concise and controlled manner ;)

They have not taken you seriously as you are too nice and accommodating!

Your letting it go on way, way too long IMHO!

I think its time to start kicking some butt as our Yankee friends would say.Defenderben is right you have let this shambles go on for far too long.

There must be a No2 at the dealer, who could have contacted the MANAGER!

SKODA UK SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE DEALERS BACK FOR SELLING A CAR NOT MEETING THE APPROVED STANDARD!!!!.

As have been expressed by others ,your are being too nice!

You are letting the Dealer BULLY you in an indirect way

1 MONTH SINCE YOUR FIRST POSTING!

I had a problem with a car purchase, secondhand though. My problem with the dealership the manager was never there or in a meeting or any excuse to not speak to me.

I knew the manager had a certain day off when I phoned before so I planned on going there unannounced one day to catch them out. So I found out who the manager was and low and behold he was there standing outside talking to someone, he asked "can I help you" you certainly can I replied, then I let rip. I called him and his staff liars, you name it I let them have both barrels.

I was pleasant for a few weeks previously with them hoping they would sort my problem, a missing part but nope nothing.

Lookers, Burton on Trent, Staffs.

Be warned never get a car from them, the after sales is  and boy do I like telling everyone.

Anyway this is the way forward for you.

I would be seriously kicking up a storm in there now... sitting on the desk telling any new customers to make sure and check every panel...

That would get a fire lit!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hope you are well rested after your holiday.

Now it's time to get active and sort out the pathetic dealer and Skoda UK.

Look forward to some good news soon!

Time for serious  :moon:  :punch:  and that is NOT a fisting reference....

Should have a proper update for you all in the next few days :) It's been interesting, to say the least. For the record Skoda have been really good, particularly considering it wasn't easy to get in contact with me last week.

As an aside, been driving a brand new courtesy Hyundai i10 all week, not a bad little car but not a patch on the Citigo.

So it's a repair then and not a replacement!!!?

That would be disappointing, in my view.

But each to their own.
