Can you recommend code reader for my 2003 Fabia please

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to get a code reader for my 2003 Fabia that will allow me to read the codes and reset the engine light. I have seen the U281 reader on Ebay for around £13 and wondered if these are ok? Or maybe there is a better unit that would work with my car. Thank you very much for your help.

Have ya got a smart phone?

If yes. Then get a blue tooth obd2 reader and download the "Torque" app.

As long as its an Android smart phone and not a nokia blackberry or apple :)

I wouldn't really class those as smart phones :P

Thanks for all the info - unfortunately I don't have an android phone, I liked the unit on ebay as it all seemed to be self contained but I am not sure if they work ok?

I have the U281 and it works fine for basic use :)

Apple don't allow the proprietary Bluetooth accessories like that to use it's functionality.

I think there is a WiFi one that works with the iPhone however?

I tried a few bluetooth ELM's and none worked on my 1.4MPI ATZ engine (1st one did not ask for a password when pairing with the phone and was impossible to connect with the ECU, 2nd one asked for a password, paired ok, but wasn't able to find the correct protocol for the ECU).

I think most of them are cheap replicas of the original and I should have tried harder, but I didn't. I bought one used VAG-COM 912 USB cable and my laptop is pretty happy with it.

Don't mean to hijack your post, but I'm after a code reader as well.

Not sure what would work with my 2002 Fabia 1.9tdi.

All the Bluetooth devices lists the diesel from 2004+, the U281 reader only good for the engine codes on a diesel.

Will the U281 read more than engine codes?

Any recommendations?

I have a gendan t55 and it works spot on with my 07 Octy and 01 Fabian. Would recommend it for £65.
