I always thought from reading somewhere that there was battle between Skoda and Ford for the RS name.

They only use VRS in the UK.

In other markets it is just RS.

No V prefix.

It's always been like that.

From memory, I believe that Ford patented the RS 'name' in the UK only, so whilst Skoda is free to use RS in the rest of the world they had to come up with something different for the UK, hence vRS.

Can Audi get away with the RS3 RS4 RS5 etc because of the number after it I presume?

What about the Porker 911 GT3 (space) RS then?

RS is a specific trim level seperate from the GT3 bit.

Not heard of Ford having a cry about that.

I have absolutely no idea!   :D

You had Porsche RS,  & Renault Sport,

Ford 'Rallye Sport' did not have Copy Right on RS.

Simca RS cars were before any Ford RS

'V'  for Victory.

RS here (and everywhere except UK I think), you want to do things your own way I guess!  :giggle:

Oh, the badge is the same though...

Wha.. With a 'V' at the beginning?

RS here as well, and yes the badge has the V at the beginning. I've seen foreign video reviews where they talk about the "Fabia RS", and it has the same badge as well.

I suppose they have sort of tried to disguise the V so that you lot don't really know if it's a letter or a funny patern but us lot that have VRS plastered everywhere know what it means.

I also think that VRS sounds better than RS, RS sounds like arse.

So it's not gonna be a "Very Rapid Skoda" any-more!!

Just a "Rapid Skoda" :D
